Twenty-two girls flag football players from the WPIAL and City League will represent the Steelers at the third annual Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association (PSFCA) Big 33 girls flag football tournament May 23-24 as part of the 69th Big 33 Football Classic.

The 2025 City League team champion was Obama Academy, which defeated Carrick, 65-10, in the semifinals and Allderdice, 40-35, in the finals. The Eagles were defeated, 74-0, against Norwin in the opening round of the PIAA Class 3A team tournament.

Six girls basketball teams will again compete in the City League for the 2024-25 season — Allderdice, Brashear, Carrick, Obama Academy, Perry Traditional Academy and Westinghouse.
The Carrick football program finished last season with a win and is using that as a springboard into its second season under coach Dennis “Shor D” Wolford.
