7 from WPIAL selected to Class AA boys volleyball all-state team

The Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association released its Class AA all-state team Monday, and eight from the WPIAL were selected.
Representing the WPIAL are Ambridge’s Liam Buck (junior, outside hitter), Dorien Priddy (senior, setter) and Kevan Rotthoff (junior, libero); Derry’s John Kerr (senior, outside hitter) and Colton Nemcheck (senior, outside hitter); Seton La Salle’s Luke Manion (junior, setter) and Nathan Zini (sophomore, right side hitter); and Bishop Canevin’s Matthew Menosky (senior, outside hitter).
Ambridge captured its second straight WPIAL title and ninth in the past 12 seasons with a 3-1 victory over Seton La Salle, and Derry also qualified for the PIAA tournament with a win in the consolation match.
The Bridgers advanced to the state semifinals before falling to eventual champion Meadville.
In all, 32 players were named to the all-star list. Fifteen of them are from District 3, while District 10 had seven selected.
