Not only did Seneca Valley’s 34-7 victory against Pittsburgh Central Catholic Thursday night give Seneca Valley a leg up on second place in the Northern Eight Conference, it was a monumental win of sorts for the Raiders. * For the first time in a while, the Raiders won a big game against an upper-echelon Class AAAA team. A year ago, Seneca Valley won a WPIAL playoff game for the first time since 2002. This time, the Raiders defeated a Central Catholic team that was ranked No. 4 in Class AAAA by MSA Sports. * The win broke Central Catholic’s 26-game regular-season winning streak. The Vikings’ last regular-season loss was to Woodland Hills, 27-3, on oct. 2, 2009.

After just two weeks of divisional play, the PSAC returns with a crossover week while the PAC has four conference games on tap as W & J looks to keep pace with Waynesburg and Geneva looks to avoid their worst start since 1978.Here are previews of ALL the games, tune back on Sunday for complete recaps:Kutztown(1-3) at Slippery Rock(2-2)  6pm on WISR 680-AM and the MSA Sports Network It's a rematch of last year's PSAC title game, won by Kutztown 21-14. Leechburg’s Matt Barto Wins WPIAL Boys Class AA Golf Gold
September 24, 2012
After finishing 7th as a freshman and tied for 2nd last year as a sophomore, Leechburg junior Matt Barto won the 2012 WPIAL Boys Class AA Individual Golf Championship Monday afternoon at the Youghiogheny Country Club in McKeesport.  Barto fired a one-over 73 to edge Jesse Vensel of McGuffey, Darren Carone of Shenango and Matt Cioffi of Neshannock by two strokes.Barto was in the day's first group and had to wait for the other 14 groups to return before being crowned champion. "I was nervous each time a new group would come in," he said afterward. "I worked very hard for this. I thought I had a chance until i bogeyed 15, 16 and 17." Barto would par the 18th to finish off his title winning round of 73.

District College Football Recap for Saturday, September 22
On the first official day of fall, the weather turned fall-like with rain and strong winds, or as some would say, football weather for week 4 of the college football season.A classic battle comes down to the wire in the Coal Bowl, Allegheny pulls off a shocker in the NCAC and Waynesburg dumps the reigning  PAC champions for the second straight year.Here are recaps from ALL the games played yesterday:Mercyhurst 38 - Slippery Rock 23 Once again the trip up Interstate 79 was not a pleasant one for the Rock, as they dropped their fifth straight game inside the city of Erie with the loss to the Lakers and their big play offense on Saturday.
