Norwins Rocco Amendola Wins WBCA John Challis Memorial Award

The WPIAL Baseball Coaches Association (WBCA) has announced that Rocco Amendola, a senior at Norwin High School, is the recipient of the third annual John Challis Memorial Award. Rocco will be honored at the WBCA's Awards Banquet on June 10, 2011 at the Airport Marriott.Schoalstic Notebook

India McCoy is bar hopping like few girls have in the history of the WPIAL. McCoy is only a sophomore at Ambridge, but she already has established herself as one of the best high jumpers in league history. Aliquippa and Pitt wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin was the only former WPIAL football player taken in the First Round of the 2011 NFL Draft on Thursday night. The decision might come as a surprise to some because college interest was starting to pick up in Mason, who led the WPIAL in scoring last season at 33.3 points and scored 64 in one game. Butler University coach Brad Stevens came to watch Mason work out at Highlands last week and requested grade transcripts on Mason.
