One week down, two remaining in the MSA Sports 'Stretch Run' to the 2012 WPIAL football regular season. Over the final two weeks, you will hear plenty of talk with these words and phrases: Conference champions; Home field advantage; Playoff positioning; Staying alive; Controlling your own destiny; wild card and of course, the dreaded Gardner points. More than half of the Field of 64 has clinched through seven weeks with 34 playoff berths wrapped up and 28 more up for grabs in Weeks 8 and 9 before we take off on the Highway to Heinz.Chicks Picks – Week Eight – 2012

There were no district championships at stake Monday afternoon, just a spot in the upcoming PIAA state golf championships. 34 WPIAL and Pittsburgh City League golfers have qualified with 11 from Boys AAA, 12 from Boys AA, 6 from Girls AAA and 5 from Girls AA. So since we are in Stetch Run mode, we don't have to feel guilty about enjoying extra pleasures and get a little bloated on great performances from the Seventh Saturday of the season.Connor Slomka and Ernest Williams - Pine-RichlandLike any great duo through the years, one delivers the early shots while the other comes in and finishes the deal.
