Pine-Richland Wins Third WPIAL Girls Volleyball AAA Crown
Hats off to the WPIAL Girls Volleyball steering committee as they got all of the top two seeds playing for the Championships in all three classifications this season. This particular conflict featured two northern suburban schools that do not have an affinity for one another on the volleyball court.

NA Duo Settles for Silver in 2010 PIAA Girls Doubles Tennis Championships
A pair of WPIAL duo's made it to the Semifinals in the 2010 PIAA Girls Doubles Tennis Championships this weekend in Hershey, one in Class AAA and one in Class AA. The North Allegheny team of Lylie Isaacs and Mikayla Becich had to settle for silver after they advanced to the finals Saturday afternoon only to lose in two sets.

Mars Remains Perfect With WPIAL Girls AA Soccer Championship
The Planets capped off a perfect run through the WPIAL season with a 2-0 win over Beaver Saturday at Baldwin High School. Second seeded Mars ends its championship season at (22-0) and even though the Planets controlled the ball and most of the play against the Bobcats, it took a while for the games first goal to be tallied.

Hampton is the New Sheriff in the WPIAL Boys AA Soccer Town After Ousting Mars
On the one hand, Hampton (21-1-0) had defeated Mars (14-6-2) twice during the 2010 regular season, and was certainly motivated to avenge a loss in the 2009 WPIAL Championship game. On the other hand, the Planets were the two-time defending champion, but the Talbots would not be denied the gold medal this time, winning 4-1 at Baldwin High School on Saturday evening.

Ten teams have the perfect outlook on the WPIAL playoffs. The playoffs start Friday night and 10 WPIAL teams enter the postseason with perfect 9-0 records. A year ago, not one team made it through the WPIAL playoffs with an undefeated record. Only three years ago, all four WPIAL champs (Serra, Jeannette, Thomas Jefferson and Central Catholic) were undefeated.
