South Fayette enjoyed a breakout season in 2009. They went undefeated in the regular season and captured the Class AA Century Conference championship. However their season came to a bitter end in a wild shootout loss to Aliquippa in the WPIAL Quarterfinals. Running for 4,000 career yards isn't as rare as it used to be. Forty-seven players have done it in WPIAL history, and 40 of them have reached the mark since 1990. After a busy first Saturday last week, the area high school football action was a bit calmer on the final day of Week Two of the 2010 season. There were only three games in both the WPIAL and the Pittsburgh City League with five of those games played in the afternoon. Allegheny Conference teams won't have to "get real" so fast this season. Over the past two seasons, the Allegheny has consisted of 10 teams, which meant all teams started playing conference games the first night of the season. There were no non-conference games. Everything was real from the get-go.
