WPIAL Big Game Hunting – Week Twelve
November 12, 2014
The Final off ramp on the Highway to Heinz is here and the WPIAL Football playoff Steering Committee is celebrating one of their finest moments ever. Each classification features seeds 1,2,3 and 5 still standing as we get set for semi-final Friday. The semi-finals feature the top three passers in the WPIAL and the top two rushers for the year are still alive as well. All the games are fantastic and so we at Big Game Hunting must make "Sophie's Choice" in each classification. We do not have any problem with that. You can send your complaints to drebel@MSASports.net.

Chicks Picks – Week Seven – 2014
October 9, 2014
Welcome to Week 7 of the high school football season. Part of being a successful high school football prognosticator is always knowing what your competition is up to.  While studying season statistics of those very rivals, Chick’s Picks noticed a few thing that were rather bothersome.  She decided to schedule a meeting with The Boss to air her frustrations. “Boss, I want to start off by saying that I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me over the last 15 years.  But, this week, I noticed that my biggest rivals are spreading their wings, so to speak,” Chick’s Picks said. The Boss replied, without looking up from his classic hunt and peck typing technique, “Chick’s, what is it that you want now?”

This week in Big Game Hunting we get the rarest of the rare, as a pair of number ones will square off in Imperial. While forecasts for stormy weather fortunately were off, some of the performances on the first wet Friday of the 2014 campaign were spot on terrific. On a cloudy evening, the stars were shining bright as we check out the best of the best on the first Friday night of WPIAL football in October. Jordan Whitehead - Central Valley

Chicks Picks – Week Five – 2014
September 25, 2014
Welcome to Week 5 of the high school football season. Becoming a local celebrity has its perks, and Chick’s Picks was set to enjoy yet another last weekend.  The resident WPIAL football prognosticator was asked by the Pittsburgh Pirates to throw out the first pitch Saturday night when they took on the Brewers.  Chick’s Picks did not hesitate to accept the offer, especially considering the tremendous success the Pirates have had this season. Game night arrived.  Chick’s Picks was escorted onto the field by the Pirates PR staff.  As she stepped onto the mound, she took it all in—the bright lights, the sellout crowd of over 37,000 fans, and even the famous Pirates Pierogies.  Then, the nerves set in.

WPIAL Big Game Hunting – Week Four – 09/17/2014
September 17, 2014
One third of the way into the 2014 season and the field is taking shape quite nicely, we have some traditional powers and some new kids on the block. Most satisfying for us here at BGH, there never seems to be any shortage of Big Games to choose from on a given weekend. Kudos to the WPIAL football steering committee for their expertise and vision. Just as there is no shortage of Big Games there seems to also be no shortage of articles calling themselves Big Game Hunting. You would do well for yourself to stick here with the original and, best I can tell, the only one that features an actual article on the games when you click on the link. Minor detail, maybe to some, but it feels like a big deal to us.

CTK ’14: WPIAL A Black Hills Conference Preview
August 22, 2014
Look at the makeup of the Black Hills Conference and the name doesn’t seem to fit any more. With the WPIAL’s realignment for this year, the Black Hills changed drastically. A name like the old Ohio Valley Conference might have been more appropriate. But some of the coaches in this conference let it be known that they still wanted to be called the Black Hills. So, Black Hills it is By any name, this conference figures to be highly competitive. Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic, the defending WPIAL and PIAA champ, is everyone’s team to beat.
