Brentwood got defensive in their WPIAL Class AA Section 4 contest Tuesday against Charleroi. The Spartans did not make any errors and played solid defense behind starting pitcher Meghan Gildea in a 3-1 victory over the Cougars."Our defense has has been great this year," said coach Jen Ditoro. "The ladies have been bringing it all year."Freshman Taryn Sherry, making her first start in center field this year, was two for two at the plate with all three run batted in. She delivered a two out, two run double in the right center gap in the 3rd inning, driving home Sydney Bauer and Alexis Gaughan, who had each singled, making it 2-0 Spartans.National Letter of Intent Day: Division I-A Signings From WPIAL Class of 2013

It was a down year for top talent coming out of District 7. A year ago, 32 WPIAL football players put their John Hancock to paper and faxed their futures plans to their respective Division I-A schools. On National Letter of Intent Day 2013, only 18 players from the WPIAL took part in the annual process Wednesday morning.
