Butler High School is in search of a new football coach...again. After one year as the head coach of the Golden Tornado football program, Jim Rankin has resigned citing family reasons for his decisions. It was a golden Saturday for both Ryan Gil, who won the 2010 Boys Class AAA Individual cross-country race while his North Allegheny teammates finished first in the boys team standings at the Parkview Course in Hershey. Erie McDowell is back in the Northern Seven Conference. This time for real. In 2006 and 2007, McDowell played a conference schedule, but McDowell could not qualify for the WPIAL playoffs because it was still a District 10 team. A pair of legends hung up the whistle this off season with George Smith of McKeesport and Guy Montecalvo of Canon-McMillan calling it quits...for now. Meanwhile, a couple of big name coaches have resurfaced in Jim Rankin and Art Tragesser while Ray Braszo is going back to the future.
