CTK 2011 – 2010 WPIAL Class AAAA Football Flashback
August 16, 2011
It had been two decades since one of the WPIAL Class AAAA's top football programs had won a district championship. However that drought ended when North Allegheny captured gold by beating the 2009 champion Woodland Hills Wolverines in the WPIAL finals at Heinz Field. Three weeks later, the Tigers captured a second PIAA football crown to go along with the 1990 state championship they won.

2011 MSA SPORTS ALL-MAT WRESTLING TEAM

Last weekend put a stamp on the end of yet another season of fantastic wrestling. The WPIAL produced 5 state champions and 48 total medallists (24 in both AA and AAA) over that time in Hershey. While there were many great wrestlers to watch and follow throughout the season, the MSA Sports Network had whittled the superb list down to the top ten wrestlers of 2010-2011 for our All-Mat Team.

Upper St. Clair Comes Back, Beats Defending Champ Canon-Mac in PIHL AAA Overtime Thriller

It took 53 minutes and 10 seconds to crown a Class AAA champion, but that just made it all the sweeter for 4th-seed Upper St. Clair as they upended 2nd-seed Canon-McMillan in dramatic fashion in overtime to win the Panthers first Penguins Cup Championship since 1987 Sunday night at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

After being blanked on Day One on Friday, Saturday turned out to be a golden day for four WPIAL swimmers at the 2011 PIAA Class AAA Swimming and Diving championships at Bucknell University. Oakland Catholic's Leah Smith set a record in the 500-yard freestyle while Kristen Murslack of Pine-Richland won gold in the 100-yard breaststroke.

PIHL Penguins Cup Semifinals Recaps for Tuesday, March 15th

Two defending champions in high school hockey have registered victories on Semifinals Tuesday while another has seen its hopes of more frozen gold come to an end at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh. Canon-McMillan is still alive in an effort to repeat as Class AAA champs after knocking out Bethel Park while two-time defending champion Mars took care of business against Westmont-Hilltop.
