Mars proved their girls soccer team is out of this world Friday when they captured the schools first ever state title as the Planets blanked the previously undefeated Villa Jospeh Marie Jems 1-0 at Hersheypark Stadium. Twelve WPIAL girls soccer teams entered the state playoffs which started Tuesday, and nine are moving on to Round Two this weekend. The curtain was lifted on the 2011 WPIAL Girls Soccer playoffs Saturday afternoon just as the gray skies parted and the sun came out to shine a bit on the action at the pitch. The brackets are out for the 2011 WPIAL Girls Soccer Playoffs that begin on Saturday, October 22nd and continue through to the finals on Supper Soccer Saturday on 11/5/11. Peters Township in AAA, Mars in AA and Shady Side Academy in A are the three defending champions and two of those three are top-seeds this year as well.Shady Side Academy and Central Valley Wear the WPIAL Girls Golf Team Crowns

For one school, it was a repeat golden performance. For the other, it marks the return to title town for a third time in four years. Shady Side Academy won the WPIAL Girls Team Golf Division I championship on Thursday at the Cedarbrook Golf Club in Belle Vernon again after winning the championship in 2008 and 2009. Meanwhile, Central Valley is a perfect 2-for-2.
