2010-2011 MSA Sports Cup Final Standings Coming Friday

The chase for the MSA Sports Cup concludes with the final standings from the 2010-2011 high school sports season being released Friday July 8th. The MSA Sports Cup is a challenge to determine the best sports program for the school year from the WPIAL in each classification. Its 2009 All Over Again as Mt. Lebanon and Hampton Earn 2011 WPIAL Boys Lacrosse Championships

Mount Lebanon and Hampton won the very first WPIAL boys lacrosse championships two years ago in 2009. After missing out last season, the gold rush continued for both the Blue Devils and Talbots in 2011. Both schools captured a second WPIAL boys lacrosse crown with tight victories Friday night at Chartiers Valley High School and here on the MSA Sports Network.

Two WPIAL baseball teams head into the Quarterfinals with undefeated records. Considering the past, it would be highly unusual if one of them wins the WPIAL title. Norwin is 17-0 and plays in the Class AAAA Quarterfinals Monday against Bethel Park. Elizabeth Forward is 18-0 and plays in the Class AAA Quarterfinals Monday against either Greensburg Salem or Central Valley.

2011 MSA SPORTS BOYS ALL-NETTERS TEAM

It was a rare season in the WPIAL in terms of points. Three players averaged 30 points or more for the first time in at least 25 years. All three of those players are the MSA Sports Boys All-Netters team.

Mount Lebanon, Montour, Greensburg CC & Lincoln Park All Settle for Silver in PIAA Boys Basketball Playoffs

There is plenty of silver to be found in Southwestern Pennsylvania following the state basketball championships at Penn State University. Mount Lebanon in AAAA, Montour in AAA, Greensburg Central Catholic in AA and Lincoln Park in A all lost in the state finals in Happy Valley, three of them fell to District 12 powers while Mount Lebanon lost to the District 1 champs.

Mount Lebanon Queens of the PIAA Girls Court Again and Again and Again While Archbishop Wood, Villa Maria & Steel-Highspire Also Win Titles
For a third straight year, the Mount Lebanon Blue Devils are sitting on top in Pennsylvania in Class AAAA. It wasn't pretty, but he Blue Devils were golden again by hanging on to a one point victory. District 10's Villa Maria Academy in Class AA also pulled off the trifecta by winning a third straight state title with a rout Friday afternoon.

Imhotep Charter Rolls to Boys Class AA State Title Win Over GCC

Imohtep Charter won their second PIAA Class AA basketball champions and there was no double overtime this time as the Panthers smoked the Greensburg Central Catholic Centurions 67-34 on Saturday at the Bryce Jordan Center. 10 different players scored for the Panthers as they exploded in the second half to claim the gold.

Greyhounds Golden as Monessen Knocks off Greensburg C.C. to Win Boys AA Hoops Title
March 5, 2011
The Greyhound is known as a race dog with great speed. Then it is appropriate that Monessen High School is nicknamed the Greyhounds, as they raced out to fast starts in both the first and second halves which keyed a 63-43 victory over top-seed Greensburg Central Catholic in the WPIAL Class AA title game at Duquesne University.
