Shady Side Academy Wins First Ever WPIAL Girls A Soccer Title

Shady Side Academy made history at Baldwin Stadium by defeating Sewickley Academy to become the first ever WPIAL Girls Class-A champions. It was a golden Saturday for both Ryan Gil, who won the 2010 Boys Class AAA Individual cross-country race while his North Allegheny teammates finished first in the boys team standings at the Parkview Course in Hershey. Last week, Shady Side Academy edged Mount Lebanon to win the 2010 WPIAL Girls Team Tennis Class AAA Championship. One week later, history has repeated itself in the 2010 PIAA Girls Team Tennis Finals. It was a historic day for WPIAL girl's golf Thursday at the Cedarbrook Golf Club in Belle Vernon. A bit of surprise was supposed to be in store for high school football fans with THREE games on this first night of Week Three. However Mother Nature forced the postponement of one of the WPIAL games, thus the schedule shrunk back to the normal one WPIAL and one Pittsburgh City League game. Here are both of the finals scores as the third week of the scholastic football season is underway.
