On a hot and humid afternoon and evening, five WPIAL games were featured on the first Saturday of the high school football season. The City League has never looked this way before. It can best be described in one word. Small.This is the smallest the City League has ever been as the league now has only eight teams. It was rare air in the 2009 District 8 football finals as Pittsburgh City League powers Perry and Brashear were spectators for a game they were often participants in. However all was back to normal in the 2010 City League title game as the Commodores and Bulls battled for gold at Cupples Stadium on the South Side.
