2011 PIAA Boys Soccer Playoffs

Six of the eight WPIAL boys soccer teams playing in the state playoffs won their opening round contest and are moving on to the second round, including district champions Upper St. Clair in AAA and Hampton in AA. However one of two district teams to fall on Tuesday along with Peters Township was WPIAL Class A champion Seton-LaSalle.

2011 WPIAL FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS – 11/07
32 have exited the Highway to Heinz while 32 others are rambling on toward the round two exit. There were very few surprises in the First Round as only four double-digit seeds were victorious. #10 Hopewell in Class AAA, #13 Ellwood City in AA and a pair of #11-seeds - South Fayette in AA and Fort Cherry in A were able to keep their long-shot title hopes alive through the opening weekend.

USC Claims Boys WPIAL AAA Soccer Title After Beating Rival PT

The Upper Saint Clair Panthers collected their sixth WPIAL soccer championship Saturday at Baldwin High School, the title leaves them one short of the record, seven WPIAL soccer titles held by, the team they beat in the Championship game, the Peters Township Indians.

USC Dethrones Peters Twp As WPIAL Class AAA Girls Soccer Queens
The rivalry between the Upper St. Clair Panthers and the Peters Township Indians spilled over from football into both the Girls and Boys AAA Soccer Championships.  Baldwin High School was the venue for both title matches, and the ladies were up first.

The WPIAL football playoffs start Friday night and never before has the postseason picture looked so perfect.Although the WPIAL started crowning football champions in 1914, the league didn’t have playoff games until 1971. A total of 12 teams head into this year’s playoffs with perfect records. That is the most EVER since the WPIAL started playoff games.

The three district boys soccer champions from 2010 all entered Super Soccer Saturday with a chance to repeat here in 2011. Two teams, Hampton in AA and Seton-LaSalle in A were able to succeed in winning more gold on the pitch. However Peters Township in AAA fell short in losing to section rival Upper St.

Friends of Chick’s Picks held the first annual Pumpkin Carve-nival this week to get in the Halloween spirit.  The Pumpkin Carve-nival, as it had been dubbed, was not your average pumpkin-carving party.  Prizes and pride were on the line, and Chick’s Picks was determined to take home gold in every category.
