Hempfield’s Nicole Metz on Target, Wins 2012 WPIAL Rifle Title

The girls ruled the day at the 2012 WPIAL Individual Rifle Championship Thursday afternoon at the Dormont-Mt. Lebanon Sportsmens Club in Canonsburg. When the 'smoke' cleared, girls claimed the top ten spots, led by Hempfield's Nicole Metz.Metz, the runner-up a year ago, finished with a final total of 200-18x, one of five shooters to register the same score. Metz won the gold because she had six center shots while the other four had five center shots.Girls claiming the top ten spots was a first in WPIAL Individual Rifle history. Two incredible golden streaks continued Saturday at Chartiers Valley High School as Canon-McMillan and Burrell continued their district mat mastery. The Clairton Bears continue to dominate the Class A ranks in high school football and now their wins are reaching historic proportions.CTK 2011 – WPIAL 7:00pm Kickoffs
There are 126 schools in the WPIAL that field a high school football team. While a majority still begin at 7:30pm, 38 of them now kickoff their home games at 7:00pm, including the enire Class AAA Keystone Conference.
