CTK 2011 – 2010 WPIAL Class AAAA Football Flashback
It had been two decades since one of the WPIAL Class AAAA's top football programs had won a district championship. However that drought ended when North Allegheny captured gold by beating the 2009 champion Woodland Hills Wolverines in the WPIAL finals at Heinz Field. Three weeks later, the Tigers captured a second PIAA football crown to go along with the 1990 state championship they won.

CTK 2011 – WPIAL 7:00pm Kickoffs
There are 126 schools in the WPIAL that field a high school football team. While a majority still begin at 7:30pm, 38 of them now kickoff their home games at 7:00pm, including the enire Class AAA Keystone Conference. Gateway, Montour, Monessen and Vincentian Win 2011 WPIAL Boys Basketball Titles

2011 turns into the yeaqr of virgin winners. With Gateway beating Chartiers Valley in Class AAAA, Montour beating top-seed South Fayette in Class AAA and Vincentian Academy taking care of Lincoln Park in Class A, championship weekend sees three school lift the golden ball for the first time in school history.

Shaler, Blackhawk, Seton-LaSalle and North Catholic Are Golden Girls in 2011 WPIAL Girls Basketball
Mount Lebanon and Jeannette entered championship weekend searching for more gold. The Blue Devils won WPIAL AAAA crowns in 2009 and 2010 while the Jayhawks captured AA gold last winter. But there would be no repeats in 2011. Shaler knocked out Mount Lebanon to win their second girls title and first in 31 years.

WPIAL Football Recruiting: Pitt is NOT it for Pitts, Now Rutgers Bound

The recruiting fall out of Dave Wannstedt leaving as Pitt head coach last month continued when Woodland Hills High School running back/defensive back Lafayette Pitts made a verbal commitment to Rutgers. Last summer, Pitts made a verbal agreement to make Pitt his college choice, but changed his mind when the Panthers and Coach Wannstedt went their separate ways.
