As we hit the midway point of January, a cold chill along with some changes in the Trib HSSN boys basketball rankings are in the air.

Three teams from District 12 that sat atop the rankings a week ago slipped but did not fall from their top spot this past week.

However, the news was not as good for defending PIAA champion Aliquippa, which lost twice over the weekend and fell from No. 1 to No. 2 in Class 3A.

Five teams lost their spot in the top 5 from last week with Central Dauphin in 6A, Camp Hill Trinity in 3A, Jeannette and Old Forge from 2A and Serra Catholic in A.

They have been replaced by Wilson West Lawn, South Allegheny, West Branch, Rocky Grove and Nazareth Prep.

While Mahanoy Area is the new 3A top team, the others remain the same with Roman Catholic in 6A, Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast in 5A, Devon Prep in 4A, Linville Hill Christian in 2A and Neighborhood Academy in A.
