It was a tough week to be a top-ranked team in the Trib HSSN state softball rankings.

Of the six No. 1 teams from last week, half of them took a tumble and are no longer on top.

While both Shaler in Class 5A and Everett in 2A dropped to No. 2 after suffering their first two losses of the season, North Penn fell out of the 6A rankings completely after a couple of losses last week.

That left only three teams at the head of the rankings from last week still at No. 1 this week: Blue Mountain in 4A, Mid Valley in 3A and Claysburg-Kimmel in A.

Altogether, there were six changes to the top 5 in the six classifications, with two changes coming in 3A and no moves in Class A.

Here is the latest edition of the HSSN state softball rankings. Teams are listed with overall record, district and last week’s ranking.
