Veteran Coach Jerry Holzhauser Steps Away From Laurel Football

Jerry Holzhauser has retired as head coach of the Laurel Spartans football team after nine seasons. Holzhauser racked up a 54-35 record over that time, including five playoff berth, including a 2009 trip to the semifinals.

Laurel finished 5-4 overall this season and 4-4 in the Big Seven Conference, behind Rochester, Sto-Rox, Neshannock and Union, all four advanced to the WPIAL quarterfinals with Neshannock and Sto-Rox still alive in Friday's Semifinals.

Before becoming the head coach, Holzhauser was an assistant to George Miles. He plans on relaxing and travelling, Holzhauser is also an avid hunter.

No timetable has been set for choosing the coach's replacement.
