Westmoreland County football players to watch in 2023 Week 9

Ahmad Ward

Derry, Sr. RB/SS

The junior scored four touchdowns, including the game-winner on a 59-yard run in the fourth quarter, and rushed for 250 yards on 22 carries as Derry defeated Burrell, 29-22, on Friday. His performance helped the Trojans clinch a berth in the WPIAL Class 2A playoffs. He has rushed for 1,030 yards and four touchdowns and has nine catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. On defense he had six interceptions and one score.

Micah Roadman

Mt. Pleasant, Sr., OL/DL

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound senior helped the Vikings offense run over South Allegheny, as the group ran for 363 yards in a 42-27 victory. His performance helped end the Vikings’ two-game losing streak and set up a third-place showdown with neighboring rival Southmoreland. The Vikings have five players who have rushed for more than 310 yards.

Alex Tatsch

Latrobe, Jr., RB/LB

The 6-4, 205-pound junior has rushed for 360 yards and four touchdowns. He has 84 tackles, eight tackles for losses, six sacks and three interceptions. He has Division I offers from Pitt, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Liberty, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Marshall and UConn.

Tyree Turner

Greensburg Central Catholic, Sr., QB/OLB/DB

The GCC senior has completed 69 of 124 passes for 1,175 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also has rushed for 485 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. He’s also caught two passes for 42 yards. He’s made 42 tackles and has intercepted four passes.
