Winner plays: Winner of 1-Butler (17-3) / 8-Mt. Lebanon (13-7) on Wednesdayin semifinals (time, site TBD)

Players to watch: Derek Berger, Norwin; Landon Greene, Central Catholic

Extra bases: Norwin defeated Central Catholic, 6-1, on March 21. … Berger is batting .362 with 18 RBIs and four doubles. Caden Sivrich has three home runs and 17 RBIs. Sivrich is 3-3 with a 2.97 ERA, Jake Knight is 4-1 with a 2.21 ERA and Matt O’Neil is 4-2 with a 2.66 ERA. … Greene is batting .405 with 15 runs scored and six doubles. C.J. Proch is hitting .457 with 21 hits and six doubles. Pitcher Josh McFadden is 3-1 and has a 2.41 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 32 innings.

6-Hempfield (10-10) vs. 3-North Allegheny (12-8)

Players to watch: Chase Demaska, Hempfield; Jake Fritz, North Allegheny

Extra bases: Demaska is batting a team-high .395 with 12 RBIs. Evan Dunlap has driven in a team-high 17 runs, and Drew Jones is hitting .311 with five doubles. Lucas Simmons and Chase Sikorski have been the Spartans’ top pitchers. … Fritz is batting .380 with 23 hits and a team-high 15 RBIs. Pitcher Liam Cooper is 5-2 with 1.34 ERA. He walked just eight and struck out 41. Dominic Williamson is batting .365, scored 17 runs and has 11 RBIs. … Hempfield defeated North Allegheny, 3-1, in the 2025 WPIAL quarterfinals. The Tigers have won nine WPIAL titles, the most recent in 2024.

Players to watch: Cason Long, Derry; James Derence, Hampton

Extra bases: Both teams own victories against Beaver. … Derry shortstop Cason Long earned a save against Beaver in a 2-1 first-round win with a strikeout with the bases loaded. Winning pitcher Max Doherty helped his own cause by going 2 for 3 with two RBIs. He had an RBI double and a sacrifice fly. … Cole Motchenbaugh had a single and two RBIs in 1 7-1 win against Belle Vernon in the first round. Colin Custer doubled and singled, and Eric Carson also had a double. A trio of Hampton pitchers limited the Leopards to one run. Zach Virbitsky earned the win in relief, and Drew Bucci earned the save.

2-Greensburg Central Catholic (15-0) vs. 7-Jefferson-Morgan (14-7)

Winner plays: Winner of 3-Serra Catholic (12-6) / 11-Aquinas Academy (10-5) on Wednesday in semifinals (time, site TBD) .

How they advanced: Greensburg Central Catholic had a bye; Jefferson-Morgan defeated Union, 6-2.

Players to watch: Anthony Grippo, Greensburg Central Catholic; Deakyn DeHoet, Jefferson-Morgan

Extra bases: Greensburg Central Catholic won both meetings against Jefferson-Morgan, winning 4-0 on March 25 and 8-2 on March 26. … The Rockets have won 10 of their past 12 games. … DeHoet, the WPIAL Class 2A 100- and 200-meter sprint champion, is batting .373. He hit a two-run homer against Union. … John Woodward is batting .438 with 23 RBIs, and Brayden Ellsworth is hitting .478 with nine doubles. Woodward is 6-2 on the hill with 76 strikeouts. … GCC’s Tyler Samide is 8-0 and is batting .545 with 36 RBIs. Grippo, a Penn State commit, is hitting .580 with 25 RBIs. Nolan Sopko is hitting .510 with eight doubles. Freshman Carson Kramer is hitting .614 with 29 RBIs.
