The 2011 WPIAL baseball season officially begins Friday, March 25th. We will preview the upcoming season later this week, but for now, lets look back at what happened in the 2010 WPIAL baseball season as Pine-Richland, Hopewell, Beaver Falls and Serra Catholic look to defend their district titles.

2010 WPIAL BASEBALL PLAYOFFS:

Three teams came to CONSOL Energy Park in Washington last May attempting to win back-to-back baseball championships. Two failed while one was historically successful. After both North Allegheny and Moon failed to win consecutive golden crowns, Serra Catholic was able to win a second straight district title in grand fashion as Alain Girman fired a no-hitter in the Class A finals. The Eagles joined Beaver Falls, Hopewell and Pine-Richland as 2010 baseball champions. Here are ALL of the final results from the 2010 WPIAL Baseball Playoffs.

2010 PIAA BASEBALL PLAYOFFS:

For the first nine years of this century, at least one WPIAL baseball team came back to Western Pennsylvania with a state title. However now for the second straight season, there is a gold drought in District 7. Serra Catholic, the lone WPIAL team to play for a 2010 PIAA baseball crown at Blair County Ballpark in Altoona, returns to McKeesport for the second straight year with silver.
