Another gorgeous day in Western Pennsylvania proved to be the back drop for some more outstanding baseball as 16 Semifinals squads were sliced down to 8 championship bound teams. Here are recaps from a busy and thrilling day of WPIAL Semifinals baseball…all of which were heard only here on the MSA Sports Network.

Thanks to Mike Azadian, Don Rebel, Dennis Fischer, Mark Schaas, Jason Tennant for their help on these recaps.

WPIAL CLASS AAAA SEMIFINALS:

Peters Township Indians 6 – Butler Golden Tornado 4
In WPIAL AAAA semi final action at North Allegheny high school, the Peters TWP Indians defeated the Butler Golden Tornadoes by a score of 6-4 to move into the championship game against the Seneca Valley Raiders next Tuesday May 31st, or Wednesday June 1st. Peters starting pitcher Ryan Minteer was perfect thru the first three innings, putting the clamps on Butlers high powered offense. Butler's Tyler Slepski was just as effective only walking 2, hitting a batter, and allowing one hit thru three. Peters would score in the 4th inning after Slepski hit the first batter Justin Bianco. After Bianco stole 2nd base, Slepski would balk two straight times to plate the first run and the Indians led 1-0. In the bottom of the 4th with one out Butler would get three straight singles, the third an RBI single by Bobby Swartout to start their uprising. After a walk Slepski hit a shot to the shortstop which resulted in an error and another run. Nate Bresnahan hit a sacrifice fly to plate their third run and it was 3-1 Tornadoes after 4 innings. In the 5th the Indians had a lead off double by Chris Olivo and he would score on a Brady Sheetz single to cut the lead to 3-2. For Peters Minteer would settle down
