Here’s a look at four WPIAL football players to watch for Week Zero.

Joey Porter Jr.

North Allegheny, sr., WR/DB

The Tigers will kick off the season against COF Academy from Ohio, and Porter (6-2, 180) will look to pick up where he left off last season. On defense, he intercepted seven passes and was a first-team all-conference selection. Offensively, he is expected to be one of the team’s primary weapons at wide receiver after making seven receptions for 132 yards and three scores in 2018. The Division I prospect holds almost 30 scholarship offers with Pitt, Penn State, LSU, Miami and Nebraska being his finalists.

Dante Cephas

Penn Hills, sr., WR/DB

Penn Hills is set to travel to Ohio to face a talented Steubenville team in the season opener. It will be the first chance to see the Indians’ high-octane offense take flight. Cephas (6-1, 175) had 36 catches for 767 yards and 15 touchdowns last season as Penn Hills reached the WPIAL Class 6A semifinals. They are now competing at the Class 5A level. Cephas lists Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Kent State and Toledo among his FBS offers.

Jamar Shegog

Seton LaSalle, sr., RB/OLB

A three-year starter and first-team all-conference linebacker last season, Shegog (6-1, 210) will be the featured ball-carrier for the Rebels after the graduation of Lionel Deanes. He’ll also line up as a tight end and out wide at times. Shegog, who runs a 4.63 40-yard dash, has been receiving recruiting interest from several FCS programs. He’ll lead the Rebels into a McNeilly Road battle against Keystone Oaks on Friday.

Tyler Bradley

OLSH, sr., QB

One of the WPIAL’s top returning passers, Bradley (6-3, 195) will lead OLSH into a new season by hosting Westinghouse at 3 p.m. Saturday. The senior threw for 2,757 yards and 31 touchdowns last season in guiding the Chargers to the WPIAL Class A quarterfinals.
