WPIAL sets playoff sites, times for Monday’s basketball semifinals

The WPIAL has scheduled four semifinal doubleheaders in the basketball playoffs on Monday. The games are for Class 6A girls, 5A boys, 3A boys and A girls.

The schedule includes a rematch between Franklin Regional and Shaler in the Class 5A boys bracket. The teams met in January for a nonsection game that Franklin Regional won in double overtime. Mt. Lebanon will host the rematch.

The defending WPIAL champion Deer Lakes boys, North Allegheny girls and Union girls will try to get back to the finals with wins Monday.

Class 6A girls

1-Norwin (19-3) vs. 5-Chartiers Valley (16-6) at Peters Township, 6 p.m.

2-Peters Township (22-1) vs. 3-North Allegheny (21-2) at Mt. Lebanon, 6 p.m.

Class 5A boys

1-Moon (21-3) vs. 4-Thomas Jefferson (21-3) at Peters Township, 8 p.m.

2-Franklin Regional (21-2) vs. 3-Shaler (22-2) at Mt. Lebanon, 8 p.m.

Class 3A boys

1-Deer Lakes (19-4) vs. 4-Neshannock (20-3) at Fox Chapel, 6 p.m.

2-Mohawk (17-7) vs. 11-Burrell (15-7) at North Allegheny, 8 p.m.

Class A girls

1-Union (17-5) vs. 4-Riverview (16-6) at North Allegheny, 6 p.m.

2-Aquinas Academy (16-6) vs. 3-St. Joseph (20-3) at Fox Chapel, 8 p.m.

Friday quarterfinals

Class 6A boys, 5A girls, 4A girls, 2A boys

Class 4A boys, 3A girls, 2A girls, A boys
