WPIAL singles champ, 2 doubles teams take silver at PIAA tennis

WPIAL singles champion Gabriella Dusi of Belle Vernon and doubles champions Kirsten Close and Avery Allan of Quaker Valley and Jackie Tang and Michelle Yang of Mt. Lebanon came home from the PIAA girls tennis championships with silver medals Saturday.
Dusi battled past District 10 champ Paige Patsy of Cathedral Prep in the semifinals 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 before falling to District 2 champion Ilana Rosenthal in the final 6-3, 6-2. In her first three matches in the tournament, Rosenthal had lost a total of one game.
Close and Allan rolled past District 10 champs Finleigh Handzel and Sophia Glance of Cathedral Prep, 6-1, 6-1, in the semifinals before falling to District 1 champs Hannah and Rebecca Kideckal of Lower Moreland in the final 6-4, 6-4.
Tang and Yang took care of Mahi Patel and Joya Mentrikoski of Downingtown East in the semifinals 6-0, 7-5 before losing to District 1 champs Michelle Lerman and Anya Zubenko of Council Rock South, 6-2, 6-4.
