The 2011 WPIAL softball season officially begins Friday, March 25th. We will preview the upcoming season later this week, but for now, lets look back at what happened in the 2010 WPIAL softball season as Mount Lebanon, Montour, Valley and Vincentian Academy are out to defend their district titles while Mount Lebanon and Chartiers-Houston look to defend state crowns.

2010 WPIAL SOFTBALL PLAYOFFS:

Three new champions were crowned while one school repeated as title holder in the 2010 WPIAL softball playoffs. Top-seed Mount Lebanon captured Class AAAA and the first softball championship since 2004 while third-seed Montour celebrated the schools third softball title and first since 1987 and Valley did what they did in 2007, which was win the Class AA crown. The been there – done that belonged again to Vincentian Academy. The Royals three-peated as Class A champs. Here are ALL of the results from the 2010 WPIAL Softball Playoffs.

2010 PIAA SOFTBALL PLAYOFFS:

It was a golden state playoffs for a pair of district teams. WPIAL champion Mount Lebanon can now be called PIAA Class AAAA champions as well. The Blue Devils captured state gold, the first in school history. Then later at Shippensburg University, WPIAL Class A runner-up Chartiers-Houston also captured a PIAA title, also the first in school history after coming up short in five previous trips to the state finals.
