Whether you are a fan of your local district team or like to know what’s going on in high school football around Pennsylvania, the TribLive High School Sports Network has you covered this fall.

We will once again rank the top WPIAL teams in each class every Sunday and follow up with our state-wide rankings every Wednesday during the high school football season.

All six of the 2018 PIAA champions are ranked in the preseason top five, with only Penn Hills in Class 5A ranked lower than No. 1 in their respective classes.

St. Joe’s Prep in 6A, Cathedral Prep in 4A, Aliquippa in 3A, Southern Columbia in 2A and Farrell in A are all at the top as we prepare to kick off a new season this weekend.

Four ranked teams will square off in head-to-head matchups to highlight Week Zero.

Two of them are WPIAL contests as No. 2 Pine-Richland in 6A hosts No. 5 Penn Hills from 5A on Friday and Class 3A top-ranked Aliquippa visits Clairton, No. 2 in Class A on Saturday evening. Both games will be broadcast at TribHSSN.TribLive.com.

The other two ranked showdowns are Wilmington, No. 5 in Class 2A, hosting No. 4 Sharon from Class 3A in a District 10 fray. Also on Friday, District 1 battles District 3 as Harrisburg visits Coatesville in a Class 6A clash of ranked teams.
