Sites and times announced for Friday’s PIAA basketball quarterfinals

The PIAA announced sites and times for Friday's state basketball quarterfinals and the schedule includes an all-WPIAL doubleheader at Gateway.

WPIAL Class 5A boys champion Mars plays Highlands at 7:30 p.m. in Monroeville, and WPIAL Class 2A girls champion Bishop Canevin plays Mohawk at 6 p.m.

An all-WPIAL matchup in the Class 6A girls bracket pairs North Allegheny and Bethel Park at Baldwin at 6 p.m.

The classifications playing Friday are 6A, 3A and 2A girls, 5A, 4A and A boys. The other classes play Saturday at sites and times not yet determined.

Also among Friday's games is a Class 4A boys matchup between WPIAL champion New Castle (23-4) and District 10 champion Sharon (25-2) at Slippery Rock University at 7:30 p.m. WPIAL runner-up Quaker Valley faces District 6 champion Huntingdon at Greater Johnstown High School at 7:30 p.m.
