McKeesport sophomore Kemon Spell can’t sign with for two more years, but the highly recruited running back and defensive back has already picked his college.

Spell committed Friday to Penn State, making him the school’s first commitment in the 2027 class.

The 5-foot-9, 195-pounder had a growing list of Division I offers that included Pitt, West Virginia, Florida State, Michigan and Wisconsin, among others. He announced his decision on social media.

Spell plays wingback in McKeesport’s option offense, but also is a threat as a safety and kick returner. He scored touchdowns four different ways last season, including once each on a kick return and punt return.

Only a freshman, he also rushed for 579 yards and nine touchdowns on 42 carries and added 124 receiving yards on eight catches.

Spell was selected as one of the 2024 TribLive HSSN Preseason 25 all-stars.
