There were a good deal of blowouts, several nail-biters and a handful of eyebrow-raisers were the story of Day Two as Boys Class AAAA, Boys Class AA, Girls Class AAA and Girls Class A got a chance to tip off their respective postseason tournaments. Through two rounds of the girls version of the Battle to the Bluff, the three of the four defending champions (Blackhawk, Seton-LaSalle and North Catholic) and all four #1 and #2 seeds are still alive. Double-digit seeds Upper St. Clair, Steel Valley, Keystone Oaks and Riverview have decided to crash the Semi's party, while AAAA Section 4 and AA Section 5 have been dominant. Here are ALL of the final scores from the Preliminary Round, First Round and the Quarterfinals, PLUS the sites and times for Semifinals on Tuesday and Wednesday in the 2012 WPIAL Girls Basketball Playoffs. For the first time ever, Bentworth might double team the WPIAL for the championship plaques. Things have been good for Bentworth basketball this season. Mike Decker is a computer education teacher at Woodland Hills High School. As basketball coach, he is part sociology teacher also. Decker is in his second season as Woodland Hills’ coach and has orchestrated one of the more impressive turnarounds in WPIAL basketball.
