The recruiting fall out of Dave Wannstedt leaving as Pitt head coach last month continued when Woodland Hills High School running back/defensive back Lafayette Pitts made a verbal commitment to Rutgers. One of the top high school football seniors in the WPIAL has determined that Price is right for Ohio State. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Woodland Hills linebacker Ejuan Price has made a verbal commitment to Ohio State University. Letter-of-intent day for college football recruiting is only a few weeks away. So far this season, only 12 players from the WPIAL have committed to Division I colleges, and there are only a half dozen or so headed to Division I schools who have not made a decision yet. A familiar name to pro football fans in Western Pennsylvania has been named the new head coach at a WPIAL Class AAAA school. Monday night, former Pittsburgh Steelers player Eric Ravotti was hired by the Fox Chapel School Board to be the Foxes new football coach.Scholastic Notebook – 01/03/2011

Butler High School is in search of a new football coach...again. After one year as the head coach of the Golden Tornado football program, Jim Rankin has resigned citing family reasons for his decisions. Central Valley earned the WPIAL Class AAA title with a 24-7 upset of undefeated Montour Saturday as the sun set on Heinz Field. The South Fayette Lions picked up their third WPIAL Championship with a 19-6 win over the Aliquippa Quips on Saturday afternoon at a blustery Heinz Field. Welcome to the Week 13 of the high school football season. Chick's Picks and other elite members of the local media were preparing for Championship Saturday with a photo shoot at Heinz Field. One particular photo was to feature all of the WPIAL prognosticators, and was scheduled to take place along the river walk outside the stadium.
