WPIAL Softball Playoff Recaps for Wednesday, May 25th

While a majority of the Final Four softball games in the 2011 WPIAL Softball Playoffs will take place Thursday, three tickets reserved their spots in the finals at Cal U on Wednesday. 10th-seed Seneca Valley continues its surprise run in Class AAAA and Latrobe took care of Quad A top-seed Shaler in extra innings, while the top-seed in Class A rolled on to the finals in convincing fashion.

MSA Sports Ranks the WPIAL Softball Playoff Teams

The 2011 WPIAL Softball Playoff field is set with 13 teams in Class AAAA, 15 in both Class AAA and Class AA and 16 in Class A. The brackets will be unveiled by the WPIAL on Thursday with the playoffs set to start next week. MSA Sports throws its two cents into the pitching circle by ranking all of the playoff teams.

India McCoy is bar hopping like few girls have in the history of the WPIAL. McCoy is only a sophomore at Ambridge, but she already has established herself as one of the best high jumpers in league history. On Friday night at the Baldwin Invitational, McCoy tied a meet record by clearing 5 feet 8 inches.

The decision might come as a surprise to some because college interest was starting to pick up in Mason, who led the WPIAL in scoring last season at 33.3 points and scored 64 in one game. Butler University coach Brad Stevens came to watch Mason work out at Highlands last week and requested grade transcripts on Mason. No scholarship offer was made.
