Dancing through the rain drops, the WPIAL Girls Team Tennis Playoffs are through the First Round in Class AA and is through the Quarterfinals in Class AAA. A couple of seniors captured their third WPIAL tennis crowns Friday afternoon at the Glen Creek Tennis Club in Library. The first WPIAL championship of the 2011-2012 school year will be decided on Friday, September 23rd with the WPIAL Girls Singles Tennis Championships. In the end, it was worth the wait for the two top-seeds. For the first time in 17 years, the Mount Lebanon boys tennis team is celebrating gold. The top-seed Blue Devils edged two-time defending champion Shady Side Academy in a match started Thursday and finished Friday due to rain. There were plenty of medals being handed out to WPIAL tennis players Saturday at the Hershey Racquet Club. Back in September, Ronit Yurovsky of Plum beat Sara Perelman of Shady Side Academy in two sets to claim the WPIAL Girls Singles Tennis crown in Class AAA. For the third time in four years, Shady Side Academy sits alone atop the WPIAL Class AAA Girls Team Tennis hill after they edged Mount Lebanon Friday afternoon in the title match at Moon High School. It is the fourth overall WPIAL Girls Team Tennis Triple A championship for the Indians.
