Hometown Volleyball Match Recap: Bethel Park Black Hawks 3 – WEST ALLEGHENY INDIANS 1
At West Allegheny High School the Bethel Park Blackhawks win a AAA Section 5 match over the West Allegheny Indians by a 3-1 match score.It was Dig Pink Nite at West A. The girls all wore tye dye warm ups with the statement "two teams, one cause" as the night was a way to raise funds for fighting breast cancer. Youth cheerleaders were in attendance and formed a gauntlet for the Indians as they were announced to the crowd, there were raffles, and bake sales and the whole West Allegheny community supported the cause.

Hometown Volleyball Match Recap: Knoch Knights 3 – FREEPORT YELLOWJACKETS 2
The Freeport Yellowjackets' Girls' Volleyball team had been running roughshod over all of its competition going into the return match with the Knoch Knights.  The two squads met back on September 10, and the Yellowjackets embarrassed the Knights, 3-0, on Knoch's own home court.  The Knights had quite a bit of time to think about revenge since then, and they jumped on the unbeaten Yellowjackets in Game 1, winning 25-21, on huge kills from Celina Sanks and Mary Zellhart. The Jackets pulled to within one at 22-21, but could get no further than that.

Hometown Volleyball Match Recap: Serra Catholic Eagles 3 – BRENTWOOD SPARTANS 0
October 1, 2013
The Brentwood Spartans Girls' Volleyball team came into their matchup with the Serra Catholic Eagles tied for 3rd place in Class A Section 2 with Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic at 4-3.  The Eagles have run over all of their competition en route to a perfect 7-0 record in the section.  The first meeting between these two teams resulted in a 3-0 win for the Eagles back on September 11 in McKeesport.  Even thought the venue for this matchup was different, the result was just the same as Sera Catholic continued to demonstrate their continuity throughout the floor thanks to the service games of Melanie Mills,Gabriella Piccolino, Erin Thomas, and Michelle Alfer, and the killing abilities of freshman Lauren Kolenik and senior Christina Pici.

2013 MSA Sports Hometown Volleyball Program Member – The Avonworth Antelopes

This is my 13th year as head coach. Hope it’s not unlucky, but we already have two girls who had season ending injuries from basketball. We hope to compete for the section championship and go deeper into the playoffs than last season.  But, we have a very solid and very big team this season and we think that we can compete with anyone. Hometown Volleyball Match Recap: FREEPORT YELLOWJACKETS 3 – Seton-LaSalle Rebels 0
The number one team in the MSA Sports Class AA Volleyball rankings showed up to impress in their first appearance as a hometown volleyball team on the MSA Sports Network. Freeport (7-0) jumped out to an early lead leaning on Senior Alexis Schrecengost for her power at the net and Sophomore Zoe Pawlak at the net and service line. Whether it was Pawlak's jump serve or a combination her and Schrecengost at the net in game one Seton-La Salle (5-1) had no answer. Freeport was able to set up their offense and win game one with a score of 25-19.

Hometown Volleyball Match Recap: SOUTH SIDE BEAVER RAMS 3 – Central Valley Warriors 1
In what head coach Jason Benkowski called their best match of the year, the Class A South Side Rams soundly defeated Class AA Central Valley 3-1 at home on Tuesday night. Having won three of their last four matches, the Rams controlled things from the service line from the onset of this match. Alexis Dhayer and Cheyenne Seik served in dominant fashion to give South Side a decisive 25-19 victory in the first game of the match.The Rams continued to be the better of the two teams when it came to both serving and passing in game two as well. Sarah Androlia and Amanda Fraser had stretches of serving brilliance, allowing the Rams to rush out to an early lead and, eventually, a 25-18 victory in game two.

Hometown Volleyball Match Recap: BLACKHAWK COUGARS 3 – Hopewell Vikings 2
September 24, 2013
The Blackhawk Cougars rallied from a 0-2 deficit to defeat the 2nd ranked Hopewell Vikings Tuesday night in Chippewa 21-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-18 and 15-9. With the victory, the Cougars move into a tie for first place with Hopewell for the top spot in Section 1 AA at 5-1.The Vikings led 22-17 in the third game, when Blackhawk coach Cindy Guthrie called a timeout. She said that she told the girls to just get the score to 22-20 and see where it goes from there. Blackhawk scored three straight points to make it 23-20 and Hopewell coach Terry Borkovic called timeout.The Cougars were able to tie the game at 23 and then won it with senior Haley Schramm making the big play to give Blackhawk the win.

The Lady Spartans are heading in the right direction this year as they prepare for solid section play against big hitting schools Vincentian Academy, North Catholic and Serra Catholic.The squad is well balanced between veterans and inexperience. For what the inexperienced players lack in experience, they make up for in aggression and heart.

Hometown Girls Volleyball Match Recap: CHARTIERS-HOUSTON 3 – Burgettstown 0
September 19, 2013
At Chartiers-Houston High School in Hometown Girls Volleyball action, the Chartiers Houston Bucs win an important section 6 single A match as they defeat the Burgettstown Blue Devils by a 3-0 match score. Game scores were 25-15, 25-20, and 26-24. The Bucs improve their record to 3-4 on the year, and 2-4 in section play. They still trail both Avella and Fort Cherry for the 4th playoff spot in the section. The Chartiers Houston Zoo, a group of students who support all of the Bucs teams was in attendance. It was America theme night for them, red white and blue colors, flag ties, and a true welcome to MSA Sports by the group was much appreciated. They set the tone for the girls on the court.

At West Allegheny High School in Hometown Volleyball action the West Allegheny Indians win a hard fought game with section rival the Montour Spartans by a 3-0 match score. They improve their record to 2-2 overall and in  section 5 AAA are in 4th place.Game scores were 25-22, 25-21, and 25-10.

MSA Sports Hometown Girls Volleyball Salute – CHARTIERS-HOUSTON BUCCANEERS

The Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers graduated five starters as part of the class of 2013. We have three returning starters beginning with junior defensive specialist Kassie Kesneck, junior outside hitter Montana Johnston and sophomore setter/right side Kylee Levers. Johnston was named all-section third team last season. Levers was named all-section and All-WPIAL first teams last season and will be a captain for the CH team this season.
