A year removed from winning their fifth straight WPIAL Championship, Burrell came into the 2011-2012 season replacing seven starting seniors and a new head coach. After winning two straight WPIAL Championships, Canon-McMillan looked to join North Allegheny as the only team in AAA Team Tournament history in winning three consecutive WPIAL titles. When the WPIAL announces playoff brackets at a meeting every February, the league also hands out plaques to section champions. For the first time ever, Bentworth might double team the WPIAL for the championship plaques. Things have been good for Bentworth basketball this season. Two incredible golden streaks continued Saturday at Chartiers Valley High School as Canon-McMillan and Burrell continued their district mat mastery. On Wednesday, January 25, 2012, a one-day section championship tournament doubleheader will be held prior to the WPIAL team championship tournament. At the section championship tournament, the first place finisher from each subsection will wrestle the second place team from the opposite subsection in the same section. Anthony who? When Anthony Dallier decided not to return for his senior year at North Allegheny, many wondered what would happen to the North Allegheny basketball team.
