George Tetteris hit a three-run triple as part of a five-run fifth inning to lead Mt. Pleasant to a 5-4 victory over Brownsville in a Section 3-3A baseball game Monday.
Joe Shrum earned the victory and added a double for the Vikings (5-3, 5-2), who won their fourth consecutive game and moved into first place in Section 3.
DJ Zimcosky and Dylan Brosky had doubles for Brownsville (5-2, 4-2), which rallied with runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings.
Plum 2, Connellsville 0 — Plum's Will Rumcik pitched a four-hit shutout, and his defense turned a trio of double plays behind him in a Section 2-6A win over Connellsville (1-9, 1-5). Rumcik struck out one and walked two. Tanner Froehlich doubled for the Mustangs (8-3, 4-2), and Dom Carlisano had an RBI single.
Canon-McMillan 10, Mt. Lebanon 3 — Nick Serafino had a triple and two RBIs, and Greydon Piechnick homered as Canon-McMillan (9-4, 6-2) won a Section 3-6A game. The Big Macs scored seven runs in the second inning.
Peters Township 10, Allderdice 3 — Kyle Comini had a three-run double, and Dax Ploskina doubled in two runs as Peters Township (7-7, 4-4) won in Section 3-6A.
Hempfield 11, Norwin 1 (5 inn.) — Jake Anderson pitched a two-hitter through five innings for Hempfield (11-2, 6-0) before Isaiah DeAndreth's solo home run halted the Spartans' rout of visiting Norwin (4-4, 3-3) in a Section 2-6A game called by a 10-run rule.
Anderson struck out seven and did not walk a batter, setting down the Knights in order in four of the five innings.
Justin Sliwoski hit a pair of RBI doubles and Luke Hudson tripled home another run for Hempfield, which won its fifth consecutive game and second this month against Norwin.
Hampton 8, Fox Chapel 6 — Class 5A No. 4 Hampton rallied with two runs in both the fifth and six innings to deal Fox Chapel its fourth straight loss in a Section 1-5A matchup. Phil Conti homered and drove in a pair for the Talbots. T.J. Johnston and Adam Mattioli doubled for Fox Chapel (4-4, 4-3).
West Allegheny 9, Trinity 1 — Shea Downing had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs as No. 1 West Allegheny (7-0, 7-0) won in Section 2-5A. Austin Hendrick had two hits and earned the win.
Gateway 3, Franklin Regional 0 — Ethan Frenchik threw six no-hit innings, and Brian Reid had a no-hit inning in relief as Gateway (8-2, 7-2) blanked Franklin Regional (7-3, 5-2) in a Section 3-5A game. Jordan Stancovich had an RBI triple, and Brendan Majocha had an RBI-single for the Gators.
Latrobe 14, Thomas Jefferson 4 (6 inn.) — Matt Henderson was 2 for 4 with four RBIs, and Adam Wolford had three hits and three RBIs to help Latrobe (5-5, 4-4) claim a Section 3-5A win. Connor Mondock had two RBIs for the Wildcats.
Laurel Highlands 19, McKeesport 3 — Josh Burns was 3 for 3 with two triples and four RBIs and Tan Erminio had a double and three RBIs to lift No. 2 Laurel Highlands (8-0, 8-0) to a Section 3-5A win.
Deer Lakes 8, Derry 6 — Cory Newman was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs to guide Deer Lakes (6-4, 3-3) to a Section 1-4A victory. Greg Geis added two doubles and an RBI for the Lancers. Donte Klapchar was 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Derry (2-9, 1-8).
Freeport 7, Greensburg Salem 6 — Despite posting just four hits, the Class 4A No. 2-ranked Yellowjackets took advantage of 11 walks to pull out a come-from-behind win over Section 1-4A rival Greensburg Salem (6-4, 5-3). Jarrett Heilman picked up the win in relief for Freeport (8-0, 8-0). Jack Oberdorf had two RBIs for Greensburg Salem.
Knoch 14, Highlands 3 (5 inn.) — Class 4A No. 3 Knoch put the game away with a six-run fifth inning as Highlands (2-8, 2-6) fell to the Knights in a Section 1-4A matchup. Noah Gillette doubled for the Golden Rams. Ethan Sloane homered and drove in four runs for Knoch (8-1, 7-1).
Yough 3, Indiana 2 — Mike Bell had two RBIs, and Dom Koch also knocked in a run as Yough (4-6, 4-5) won in Section 1-4A. Cody Ulander was 2 for 3 for the Cougars. Trajan Jones knocked in two runs in the third for Indiana (1-5, 1-5).
Blackhawk 11, New Castle 1 (5 inn.) — Mike Turconi was 3 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs to guide No. 1 Blackhawk (10-0, 8-0) to a Section 2-4A win. Andy McClymonds threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts.
Hopewell 8, Quaker Valley 4 — Joey Rock threw a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Hopewell (8-6, 6-3) won in Section 2-4A.
Elizabeth Forward 3, McGuffey 1 — Beau Morgan tossed a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Elizabeth Forward (4-9, 1-7) won a Section 3-4A game.
Ringgold 8, Keystone Oaks 6 — Koby Bubash hit a grand slam, and Ryan Varley and Bo Haines each homered as Ringgold (8-1, 7-1) won in Section 3-4A.
South Park 11, Belle Vernon 1 (6 inn.) — Kevin Vaupel hit a two-run homer and also earned the win as South Park (8-6, 3-5) won a Section 3-4A game. Cole Naylor took the loss for the Leopards (6-2, 6-2).
Burrell 13, South Allegheny 0 — Luke Virag pitched six shutout innings and hit a two-run home run in the fifth to lead Burrell (6-1, 5-1) to a Section 1-3A win at South Allegheny (0-5, 0-5). Zac Miller doubled and Seth Fischbach tripled. Virag, Fischbach, Nick Hwostow and Tanner Spohn had two hits apiece.
Washington 7, Southmoreland 3 — Ian McNaught had two RBIs as Washington (3-7, 3-4) won in Section 3-3A. Mark Farmer took the loss for the Scotties (0-10, 0-7).
Burgettstown 10, Frazier 7 — Scott Ferris was 3 for 3 to help Burgettstown (4-5, 3-5) win in Section 1-2A.
Fort Cherry 5, Bentworth 0 — Lane Miller threw a no-hitter with seven strikeouts, and Mark Permigiani had three RBIs to give Fort Cherry (6-2, 6-2) a Section 1-2A win.
Riverview 10, Sto-Rox 1 — Jordan Zatawski's four-hit day helped lead the Raiders (2-6, 1-6) to a Section 3-2A win. Ben Blacksmith homered and Mark McClelland and Mason Racicot both doubled.
Serra Catholic 6, Bishop Canevin 1 — Mark Black and Logan Mazur each had two RBIs to help No. 1 Serra Catholic (11-0, 7-0) win in Section 3-2A.
Eden Christian Academy 4, St. Joseph 3 — Dom Fellowes collected two hits and drove in a run, and Hayden Mallin added a hit and knocked in two, but the Spartans (1-6, 1-4) fell to Eden Christian (4-3, 4-2) in Section 1-A play. Glen Spath added a double for St. Joseph. Markus Williams collected two hits for Eden, which scored the game-winner in the bottom of the sixth.
Vincentian Academy 8, Leechburg 1 — Tyler Leech hit a solo home run in the second inning, but the Blue Devils (2-6. 2-4) fell to No. 3 Vincentian in a Section 1-A game. Aidan Thomson doubled twice and drove in two runs and Mark Yakim had a double, triple and RBI for Vincentian (7-2, 4-1).
Greensburg Central Catholic 17, Mapletown 2 (4 inn.) — Antonio Cavallo had three doubles and four RBIs to help No. 2 GCC (6-2, 6-0) win in Section 2-A. Ethan Bailey was 2 for 2 with a triple and three RBIs.
Bethel Park 10, Canon-McMillan 9 — Rachel Hankin had three RBIs to help Bethel Park (4-3, 3-3) to a Section 1-6A win. Katelyn Greaves was 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for No. 3 Canon-McMillan (4-2, 3-2).
Franklin Regional 8, Armstrong 3 — Angalee Beall was 4 for 4 with two home runs, a double and three RBIs to lead No. 4 Franklin Regional (9-2, 7-0) to a Section 1-5A victory. She also threw a five-hitter to earn the win.
Connellsville 4, Albert Gallatin 3 — Mia Burd scattered seven hits as Connellsville (6-4, 5-3) topped No. 2 Albert Gallatin (7-1, 6-1) in Section 2-5A. Annalia Paoli homered and had three RBIs for Albert Gallatin.
Ringgold 9, Laurel Highlands 6 — Hannah Frizzell had three hits and three RBIs for Ringgold (2-5, 1-5) in a Section 2-5A win.
Kaia Zungri hit a grand slam in the seventh inning for the Mustangs (3-5, 1-5).
Mt. Pleasant 8, Indiana 0 — Carolyn Alincic threw a three-hitter, and Alyssa Keslar tripled and had two RBIs as No. 1 Mt. Pleasant (7-0, 5-0) won a Section 1-4A game.
Belle Vernon 12, West Mifflin 0 (5 inn.) — Penn State recruit Bailey Parshall threw a perfect game with six strikeouts as No. 4 Belle Vernon (8-2, 5-2) won a Section 2-4A contest. Sophia Godzack was 2 for 2 with five RBIs, and Allison Pacak added a two-run double for the Leopards.
Yough 10, Keystone Oaks 1 — In Section 2-4A, Aubrie Mance went 4 for 4 with two doubles, and Kayley Westerman was 3 for 4 with three RBIs to guide No. 2 Yough (9-2, 6-0) to victory. Kierra Waywood threw a six-hitter with five strikeouts for the Cougars.
New Castle 9, Hopewell 1 — In Section 3-4A, Annalynn Wharry was 4 for 4 with two doubles and five RBIs to lead New Castle (3-5, 3-3) to victory. She also threw a four-hitter with five strikeouts.
Freeport 10, East Allegheny 0 (5 inn.) — Freeport junior Ally DeJidas pitched a no-hitter and slugged a pair of three-run home runs, leading Class 3A No. 2 Freeport to a five-inning victory over Section 1-3A opponent East Allegheny.
In her first year back pitching after three years away, DeJidas tossed her first career no-hitter, finishing one walk shy of a perfect game. She struck out four batters. She homered in the second and fifth innings, helping the Yellowjackets (7-0, 5-0) stay unbeaten.
South Allegheny 9, Deer Lakes 7 — Danielle Huffman tripled and hit a pair of doubles, but Deer Lakes (2-4, 1-4) couldn't overcome a five-run second inning by South Allegheny (9-3, 4-2) in a Section 1-3A loss. Casey Buechel doubled for the Lancers.
Freedom 9, Riverside 0 — Madison Slowinski threw a one-hitter, and Amber Baumiller had three hits to guide Freedom (4-3, 3-3) to a Section 2-3A victory.
Southmoreland 15, Waynesburg 2 — Faith Miller, Emily Eutsey and Lexi Klatt all had three hits to help Southmoreland (4-3, 4-2) win a Section 3-3A game. Bethany Bunner had two doubles, and Jess Matheny earned the win for the Scotties.
South Park 12, Charleroi 0 (5 inn.) — Jess Dean threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts to guide No. 1 South Park (6-1, 6-0) to a Section 3-3A win.
Apollo-Ridge 17, Springdale 8 — Apollo-Ridge scored 13 runs in the sixth inning, coming from behind to pick up a Section 2-2A win. Mollie Charlton picked up the win and doubled twice for Apollo-Ridge (4-2, 4-1). Savanna Cricks homered, and Kylee Win had three hits. Anna Harmon went 4 for 5 for Springdale (1-4, 1-3).
Chartiers-Houston 14, Serra Catholic 1 (6 inn.) — Kasey Scears was 4 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs as No. 2 Chartiers-Houston (9-1, 5-1) won in Section 3-2A. Jaylese Lombardi also homered for Chartiers-Houston.
Sewickley Academy 15, Cornell 4 — Kamryn Lightcap was 3 for 4 and Alexis Barlock had three RBIs as Sewickley Academy (4-2, 4-0) won in Section 1-A.
Mapletown 10, Jefferson-Morgan 0 (5 inn.) — Macee Chesney was 4 for 4 with five RBIs to lift Mapletown (5-3, 3-3) to a Section 2-A win. Madison Blaker threw a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
St. Joseph 14, Jeannette 3 (5 inn.) — Molly Coleman had four hits, including a double, for Class A No. 5 St. Joseph (5-1, 4-1), which belted 18 hits in a Section 3 win over Jeannette (2-5, 2-5). Serena Edgar, Ava Swanson, Anna Swierczewski and Shelby Gogal had three hits apiece. Swierczewski doubled three times and drove in four runs.
Kiski Area 15, Penn Hills 8 — Courtney Moyer homered, doubled and drove in four runs as Kiski Area (4-5) beat Penn Hills (1-6) in nonsection play. Kelsey Sofaly went 3 for 4 for the Cavaliers, and Alexa Nagy doubled.
Riverview 16, Northgate 2 (5 inn.) — Kate Davis went 4 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored as the Raiders routed nonsection opponent Northgate (1-3). Alivia Acierno added a double and three RBIs for Riverview (4-3), which scored nine runs in the second inning and finished with 16 hits. Allura Jendrasik drove in three runs and Carys Kenny-Howell struck out eight batters for the win.
Ligonier Valley 8, Marion Center 0 — Jane Garver threw a one-hitter, and Lexie Petrof had three hits, a homer and three RBIs to vault Ligonier Valley (8-1, 7-0) to a District 6 Heritage Conference win.
