Ava Kobus scored 15 points, and Lauren Palangio finished with 13 to lead No. 2 Norwin to a 47-42 victory over No. 1 North Allegheny in a battle of the top two girls basketball teams in Section 1-6A Tuesday night.

Norwin (8-2, 1-0) took control of the game with a 19-4 edge in the second quarter. Caroline Henderson made five 3-pointers and had 17 points, and Kellie McConnell added 13 points for North Allegheny (6-1, 0-1).

Armstrong 67, New Castle 29 – Emma Paul and Kyla Fitzgerald scored 15 points apiece and Kali Allensworth had 10 for Armstrong (6-4, 1-2) in a Section 2-5A win. Rihanna Boice scored 10 points for New Castle (2-10, 0-3).

Avonworth 55, South Allegheny 15 – Emma Obersteiner scored 12 points and Rebecca Goetz followed with 10 as Avonworth (8-1, 1-0) beat South Allegheny (3-7, 0-1) in Section 2-3A. Gabi Jackson had six points to pace the Gladiators.

Beaver Falls 53, Riverside 33 – Avina Norman led with 16 points and Cali Legzdin added 12 to lead Beaver Falls (6-3, 1-0) to a Section 1-3A win. Gabriella Finch scored 13 points for Riverside (3-4, 0-1).

Belle Vernon 40, Uniontown 26 – Saylor Lee led Belle Vernon (5-5, 2-1) with 14 points and Caroline Lee had nine in a Section 3-4A win. Akira Dade scored 14 points for Uniontown (2-6, 0-2).

Burgettstown 57, Northgate 15 – Paige Klodowski made four 3-pointers and had 26 points while Kaitlyn Nease added 14 points for Burgettstown (5-7, 1-0) in a Section 2-2A win. Nia Salih scored six points for Northgate (2-7, 0-1).

Chartiers Valley 50, Bethel Park 42 – Lilah Turnbull scored 16 points and Rachael Boehm added 12 to lead Chartiers Valley (7-1, 2-0) in a Section 2-6A win. Ella Sabatos put up 14 points and Ella Harmon had 13 for Bethel Park (3-8, 0-3).

Chartiers-Houston 47, Bentworth 15 – Ava Capozzoli scored 16 points while Amelia Brose added 12 as Chartiers-Houston (6-3, 3-0) beat Bentworth (3-8, 0-3) in Section 4-2A. Amber Sallee had 10 points for the Bearcats.

Elizabeth Forward 64, Southmoreland 28 – Alyssa Terza scored 17 points and Kaelynn Settles had 10 for Elizabeth Forward (7-2, 2-0) in a Section 3-4A win. Olivia Aumer had eight points for Southmoreland (0-9, 0-2).

Trinity 64, Connellsville 47 – Jacob Dunkle led four players in double figures for Trinity (6-4, 1-0) in a Section 1-5A win. Jonah Williamson had 14, Kaden Hathaway 13 and Dante DeRubbo 11. Anthony Piasecki led Connellsville (1-9, 0-1) with 17 points.

Upper St. Clair 57, Hempfield 25 – Christian Ito scored 16 points and Kaamil Jackson added 10 to power Upper St. Clair (7-3, 1-0) to a Section 2-6A victory. Drew Gordon and Daniel Husenits each had nine points for Hempfield (3-8, 0-1).

Yough 73, Waynesburg 34 – Terek Crosby led all scorers with 24 points, Zander Aird added 18 and Charlie Quinn finished with 16 to lead Yough (7-3, 2-0) to a Section 4-3A win. Cole Headlee led Waynesburg (2-8, 0-3) with 10 points.

Burrell 13, Trinity 0 – John Lukac, Luke Mink and Tyler Danko netted two goals each as Burrell (10-3) blanked Trinity (1-8) in Varsity D2. Lukac had three assists, while Danko had two. Burrell had 10 players score a goal, including one each from Dante Taliani, Cody Martin, Nathan Sabatini, Jared Wall, Ryan Burkett, Aaron Holm and Mike Morazcyzk.

Butler 11, Kiski 4 – Jaxon Salata scored a hat trick while Carson Bish, Benjamin Mikan and Kian Fries each had two goals to lead Butler (6-8) to a Class A win. Jake Stankay recorded a hat trick and Dakota Wilson added a goal for Kiski (0-12). Anthony Trombatt and Jase Rennick had a goal apiece for the Golden Tornado.

Cathedral Prep 3, Canon-McMillan 2 – Vinny Scalise, Gian Catrabone and Joey Walter scored and Tanner Ball made 30 saves to lead Cathedral Prep (5-7-1) in Class 3A. Michael Traynor and Carson O’Donoghue scored for Canon-McMillan (1-11).

Franklin Regional 4, Bishop McCort 1 – Max Rutkowski scored a pair of goals and had an assist for Franklin Regional (7-3-2) in a Class 2A win. Max Williams added a goal and an assist, Tyler Spears had a goal and Liam Copeland registered two assists. Luke Kadas scored for Bishop McCort (4-7-1).

North Catholic 8, McDowell 2 – Beckett Dunn had two goals and an assist and Conor Berry also scored twice for North Catholic (9-3-1) in a Class A win. Nar-Ulan Baiken and Miles Robinson each had a goal and two assists. Bryce Peterson scored twice for McDowell (3-8-1).

Richland 7, Westmont Hilltop 4 – Jack Lorence scored four goals to lead Richland (4-8) to a Class A win. Noah Bryson scored two goals and Austin Blough added another for the Rams. Brett Hoffman and Ethan Downey scored two goals each for Westmont Hilltop (0-13).

Wheeling Catholic 3, Moon 2 – Aden Cooey’s second goal was the game-winner in the third period as Wheeling Catholic (5-5-1) won a Class A game. Zach Vitlip also scored and Ashton Glover made 24 saves. Noah Driscoll and Josh Koren scored for Moon (8-5).
