Ava Kobus scored 15 points, and Lauren Palangio finished with 13 to lead No. 2 Norwin to a 47-42 victory over No. 1 North Allegheny in a battle of the top two girls basketball teams in Section 1-6A Tuesday night.

Norwin (8-2, 1-0) took control of the game with a 19-4 edge in the second quarter. Caroline Henderson made five 3-pointers and had 17 points, and Kellie McConnell added 13 points for North Allegheny (6-1, 0-1).

Armstrong 67, New Castle 29 – Emma Paul and Kyla Fitzgerald scored 15 points apiece and Kali Allensworth had 10 for Armstrong (6-4, 1-2) in a Section 2-5A win. Rihanna Boice scored 10 points for New Castle (2-10, 0-3).

Avonworth 55, South Allegheny 15 – Emma Obersteiner scored 12 points and Rebecca Goetz followed with 10 as Avonworth (8-1, 1-0) beat South Allegheny (3-7, 0-1) in Section 2-3A. Gabi Jackson had six points to pace the Gladiators.

Beaver Falls 53, Riverside 33 – Avina Norman led with 16 points and Cali Legzdin added 12 to lead Beaver Falls (6-3, 1-0) to a Section 1-3A win. Gabriella Finch scored 13 points for Riverside (3-4, 0-1).

Belle Vernon 40, Uniontown 26 – Saylor Lee led Belle Vernon (5-5, 2-1) with 14 points and Caroline Lee had nine in a Section 3-4A win. Akira Dade scored 14 points for Uniontown (2-6, 0-2).

Burgettstown 57, Northgate 15 – Paige Klodowski made four 3-pointers and had 26 points while Kaitlyn Nease added 14 points for Burgettstown (5-7, 1-0) in a Section 2-2A win. Nia Salih scored six points for Northgate (2-7, 0-1).

Canon-McMillan 65, Beaver 47 – Sam Miller led with 20 points, Nadia Davis followed with 18 and Madison Clair added 10 for Canon-McMillan (8-3) in a nonsection win. Annsley Baker scored 21 points for Beaver (4-7).

Chartiers Valley 50, Bethel Park 42 – Lilah Turnbull scored 16 points and Rachael Boehm added 12 to lead Chartiers Valley (7-1, 2-0) in a Section 2-6A win. Ella Sabatos put up 14 points and Ella Harmon had 13 for Bethel Park (3-8, 0-3).

Chartiers-Houston 47, Bentworth 15 – Ava Capozzoli scored 16 points while Amelia Brose added 12 as Chartiers-Houston (6-3, 3-0) beat Bentworth (3-8, 0-3) in Section 4-2A. Amber Sallee had 10 points for the Bearcats.

Elizabeth Forward 64, Southmoreland 28 – Alyssa Terza scored 17 points and Kaelynn Settles had 10 for Elizabeth Forward (7-2, 2-0) in a Section 3-4A win. Olivia Aumer had eight points for Southmoreland (0-9, 0-2).

Fort Cherry 63, Carlynton 20 – Raney Staub scored 31 points and Olivia Kemp added 14 for Fort Cherry (5-3, 1-0) in a Section 2-2A win over Carlynton (3-7, 0-1).

Latrobe 54, Penn Hills 42 – Elle Snyder had a double-double with 29 points and 14 rebounds to lead Latrobe (4-6) past Penn Hills (3-5) in a nonsection game.

Ligonier Valley 58, Deer Lakes 43 – Maddy Marinchak scored 18 points, Marlee Miller added 12 and Lindsey Gaskey had 11 to lead Ligonier Valley (4-6, 1-0) to a Section 3-3A win. Sophia Laurenza led Deer Lakes (4-6, 0-1) with 20 points.

Mars 66, Fox Chapel 57 – Cecilia Christy dropped 23 points and Vita Vargo produced 16 as Mars (6-4, 2-0) won in Section 2-5A. Bella Urso led Fox Chapel (3-8, 1-2) with 24 points, including five 3-pointers.

North Catholic 66, Derry 23 – Alayna Rocco sank seven 3-pointers and finished with 31 points to lead North Catholic (4-4, 3-0) to a Section 1-4A win. Lauren Reitz added 10 points for North Catholic. Jane Huss led Derry (4-7, 1-2) with 13 points.

Oakland Catholic 81, Albert Gallatin 19 – Kaylee DeAngelo sank five 3-pointers and finished with 21 points, Mia LeDonne added 14 points and London Creach followed with 12 as Oakland Catholic (9-0, 3-0) crushed Albert Gallatin (3-7, 0-3) in Section 3-5A.

Peters Township 53, Upper St. Clair 46 – Natalie Wetzel scored 19 points and Gemma Walker added 12 to lead Peters Township (11-0, 3-0) past Upper St. Clair (6-5, 1-1) in a Section 2-6A win. Rylee Kalocay led the Panthers with 19 points and Olivia Terlecki had 14.

Riverview 51, Leechburg 22 – Katerina Tsambis dropped 17 points and Juliette Brun followed with 10 as Riverview (8-1, 1-0) coasted to a Section 3-A win. Olivia Vigna led Leechburg (4-4, 0-1) with eight points.

Seneca Valley 51, Butler 44 – Alison Sevin put up 16 points, Natalie Hambly scored 12 and Makayla Canty finished with 10 for Seneca Valley (8-2, 1-0) in a Section 1-6A victory. Amelia McMichael had 16 points for Butler (2-8, 0-1).

Trinity 48, Montour 44 – Ruby Morgan scored 15 points to pace Trinity (8-1, 1-0) in a Section 4-5A win. Jordyn Wolfe dropped 21 points for Montour (4-5, 0-1).

Union 51, Aquinas Academy 37 – Kylie Fruehstorfer scored 17 points and Bella Cameron added 12 to lead Union (7-5, 1-0) to a Section 1-A win. Emily Fisher led Aquinas Academy (9-2, 0-1) with 11 points.

Washington 48, Frazier 16 – Olivia Woods scored 15 points to lead Washington (3-5, 2-0) to a Section 4-2A win over Frazier (4-6, 1-2).

Waynesburg 56, Charleroi 29 – Kaley Rohanna led Waynesburg (10-1, 1-0) with 24 points and Avery Davis added 16 in a Section 4-3A win. Riley Jones scored 12 points for Charleroi (4-4, 0-1).

Avonworth 67, South Allegheny 57 (OT) – Rowan Carmichael had 35 points, including 16 of the 17 his team scored in overtime, as Avonworth (7-3, 1-0) picked up a Section 4-4A victory. Jeston Beatty Jr. scored 16 points while Cam Epps and Josh Jackowski added 11 points apiece for South Allegheny (8-2, 0-1).

Beaver 67, Central Valley 55 – Ty Butler dropped 26 points and Brady Mayo followed with 23 to lead Beaver (6-5, 2-1) to a Section 2-4A win. Isaiah Jeter led all scorers with 33 points for Central Valley (6-3, 1-1).

Bethel Park 70, Ringgold 52 – Nick Brown scored 20 points and Jack Bruckner and Shawn Davis added 11 points apiece to lead Bethel Park (6-4, 1-0) past Ringgold (3-8, 0-1) in a Section 1-5A win.

Bishop Canevin 65, Nazareth Prep 55 – Michael Vaughn led Bishop Canevin (3-5, 1-0) with 21 points and Jason Cross added 14 in a Section 2-2A win. Will Evans scored 23 points and Micah Caldwell had 16 for Nazareth Prep (4-4, 0-1).

Burrell 55, Derry 35 – Macky Bennis poured in 24 points to help Burrell (7-2, 3-0) take down Derry (5-3, 0-2) in Section 3-3A. Joey Discello added 13 points for the Bucs. Brady Angus scored 10 for the Trojans.

Butler 72, Seneca Valley 60 – Braylon Littlejohn paced Butler with 27 points in a Section 1-6A win over Seneca Valley (3-9, 0-1). Stainton Forbes added 16 for the Golden Tornado (8-1, 1-0). Owen Congdon had 21 for the Raiders.

Canon-McMillan 57, Norwin 50 – Eamon O’Donoghue led all scorers with 25 points and Ryan Galicic chipped in with 10 to lead Canon-McMillan (6-5, 1-0) to a Section 2-6A win. Mario Csukas scored 17 points and Dylan McCullough added 10 for Norwin (5-5, 0-1).

Central Catholic 55, Pine-Richland 48 – Payton Wehner scored 15 points and Bradley Gompers and Calvin Vento added 12 points apiece to lead Central Catholic (5-3, 1-0) to a Section 1-6A win. Carson Baer led Pine-Richland (4-5, 0-1) with 18 points and Doolin Stober had 12.

Chartiers Valley 66, West Allegheny 51 – Jayden Davis scored 24 points, TJ Kubicsek added 12 and Danny Slizik had 11 to lead Chartiers Valley (6-5, 1-0) to a Section 4-5A win. Brady Miller led West Allegheny (8-2, 0-1) with 15 points and Justin Manns and Brandon Bell had 11 points apiece.

Isiah Petty led all scorers with 20 points, Pete Burke finished with 18 and Owen Dumbroski had 11 for the Eagles.

Eden Christian 68, Winchester Thurston 62 – Nathan Garrett led Eden Christian (4-6, 1-0) with 28 points and Luke Grombeck added 18 in a Section 2-2A win. Anthony Pipkin scored 12 points for Winchester Thurston (4-5, 0-1).

Elizabeth Forward 87, Laurel Highlands 75 – Isaiah Turner led all scorers with 30 points and Tyler Basic had 15 points to boost Elizabeth Forward (9-1, 1-0) past Laurel Highlands (2-9, 0-1) in Section 3-4A. Charlie Meehleib scored 14 points and Cy Herchelroath added 11 for the Warriors. Aiden Black put up 23 points and Antwan Black followed with 13 for the Mustangs.

Fort Cherry 69, Frazier 41 – Led by 14 points from Derek Errett, 12 from Jack Kitzmiller and 11 from Matt Sieg, Fort Cherry (6-3, 2-0) picked up a Section 4-2A win. Dalian McManus scored 10 for Frazier (6-5, 1-1).

Fox Chapel 61, Penn Hills 52 – Asher White scored a career-high 17 points, all of them coming in the second half, and Will Siegel added 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Fox Chapel (6-6, 1-0) to a Section 2-5A win. Khalil Wall led Penn Hills (5-2, 0-1) with 16 points and Darien Roberson and Rob Thomas had 10 points apiece.

Gateway 62, McKeesport 46 – Mykel Bruce-McCrommon led with 15 points, Alec Dunsmore added 12 and Alex Lowry had 12 for Gateway (8-1, 1-0) in a Section 3-5A win. Keith Spell scored 12 points and Brian Jones had 11 for McKeesport (3-5, 0-1).

Latrobe 65, Kiski Area 59 – Max Butler scored 18 points to lead Latrober (5-5, 1-0) to a Section 3-5A win. Ian DeCerb added 11 and Darius Davis had 10 for the Wildcats. Isaiah Gonzalez led Kiski Area (8-2, 0-1) with 24 points. Colin Keller added 10.

Ligonier Valley 70, Apollo-Ridge 58 – Parker Hollick finished with 24 points, Chet Dillaman added 14 and Michael Vargulish-Graver had 12 to lead Ligonier Valley (3-7, 1-2) to a Section 3-3A. Karter Schrock put up 20 points for Apollo-Ridge (1-11, 0-3).

Mars 85, North Hills 73 – Ryan Ceh led all scorers with 34 points, Austen Wroblewski put up 15, Austin Campbell added 14 and Drew Navetta followed with 12 to lead Mars (6-4, 1-0) over North Hills (4-5, 0-1) in Section 4-5A. Eric James dropped 23 points, Zach Pollaro followed with 21 and Jackson Long finished with 14 for North Hills.

Mohawk 77, Ellwood City 64 – Bobby Fadden led with 29 points, JJ Nail followed with 20 and Keigan Hopper added 12 to help Mohawk (4-6, 2-0) to a Section 1-3A win. Joseph Roth scored 30 points and Colton Crizer had 13 for Ellwood City (5-6, 1-2).

Montour 70, West Mifflin 60 – Jake Wolfe led all scorers with 25 points to propel Montour (6-1, 1-0) to a Section 4-4A win. Ama Tening Sow added 23 points and Kaleb Platz finished with 14 for the Spartans. David Fleming and Daven Reynolds scored 17 points apiece and Aaron Smith made four 3-pointers and had 15 points for West Mifflin (6-4, 0-1).

Mt. Lebanon 73, Baldwin 50 – Liam Sheely led with 30 points and Brody Barber added 17 for Mt. Lebanon (9-1, 1-0) in a Section 2-6A win. Caden Cherio scored 15 points for Baldwin (7-3, 0-1).

Mt. Pleasant 40, Charleroi 32 – Connor Pavlocak scored 13 points and Dante Giallonardo had 10 to lead Mt. Pleasant (3-6, 2-0) past Charleroi (4-7, 1-2) in a Section 4-3A win. Bryce Large led the Cougars with 10 points.

Northgate 52, Sewickley Academy 38 – Josh Williams put up 19 points, Landon Lockett scored 12 and Tylan Daniels chipped in with 11 as Northgate (6-2, 1-0) beat Sewickley Academy (6-3, 0-1) in Section 1-2A. Lucas Grimsley dropped 18 points for the Panthers.

Quaker Valley 73, East Allegheny 47 – Zach Washington posted a career-high 34 points and drained eight 3-pointers to lead Quaker Valley (6-3, 1-0) past East Allegheny (3-8, 0-1) in Section 4-4A. Joe Coyle added 18 points for the Quakers and Sam Chapman scored 10.

Trinity 64, Connellsville 47 – Jacob Dunkle led four players in double figures for Trinity (6-4, 1-0) in a Section 1-5A win. Jonah Williamson had 14, Kaden Hathaway 13 and Dante DeRubbo 11. Anthony Piasecki led Connellsville (1-9, 0-1) with 17 points.

Uniontown 73, Albert Gallatin 40 – Jamire Braxton put up 22 points, Calvin Winfrey added 15 and Notorious Grooms finished with 10 for Uniontown (10-0, 1-0) in a Section 3-4A win. Mykel Belt had 12 points and Blake White followed with 11 for Albert Gallatin (3-5, 0-1).

Upper St. Clair 57, Hempfield 25 – Christian Ito scored 16 points and Kaamil Jackson added 10 to power Upper St. Clair (7-3, 1-0) to a Section 2-6A victory. Drew Gordon and Daniel Husenits each had nine points for Hempfield (3-8, 0-1).

Yough 73, Waynesburg 34 – Terek Crosby led all scorers with 24 points, Zander Aird added 18 and Charlie Quinn finished with 16 to lead Yough (7-3, 2-0) to a Section 4-3A win. Cole Headlee led Waynesburg (2-8, 0-3) with 10 points.

Hockey

Burrell 13, Trinity 0 – John Lukac, Luke Mink and Tyler Danko netted two goals each as Burrell (10-3) blanked Trinity (1-8) in Varsity D2. Lukac had three assists, while Danko had two. Burrell had 10 players score a goal, including one each from Dante Taliani, Cody Martin, Nathan Sabatini, Jared Wall, Ryan Burkett, Aaron Holm and Mike Morazcyzk.

Butler 11, Kiski 4 – Jaxon Salata scored a hat trick while Carson Bish, Benjamin Mikan and Kian Fries each had two goals to lead Butler (6-8) to a Class A win. Jake Stankay recorded a hat trick and Dakota Wilson added a goal for Kiski (0-12). Anthony Trombatt and Jase Rennick had a goal apiece for the Golden Tornado.

Cathedral Prep 3, Canon-McMillan 2 – Vinny Scalise, Gian Catrabone and Joey Walter scored and Tanner Ball made 30 saves to lead Cathedral Prep (5-7-1) in Class 3A. Michael Traynor and Carson O’Donoghue scored for Canon-McMillan (1-11).

Franklin Regional 4, Bishop McCort 1 – Max Rutkowski scored a pair of goals and had an assist for Franklin Regional (7-3-2) in a Class 2A win. Max Williams added a goal and an assist, Tyler Spears had a goal and Liam Copeland registered two assists. Luke Kadas scored for Bishop McCort (4-7-1).

North Catholic 8, McDowell 2 – Beckett Dunn had two goals and an assist and Conor Berry also scored twice for North Catholic (9-3-1) in a Class A win. Nar-Ulan Baiken and Miles Robinson each had a goal and two assists. Bryce Peterson scored twice for McDowell (3-8-1).

Richland 7, Westmont Hilltop 4 – Jack Lorence scored four goals to lead Richland (4-8) to a Class A win. Noah Bryson scored two goals and Austin Blough added another for the Rams. Brett Hoffman and Ethan Downey scored two goals each for Westmont Hilltop (0-13).

Wheeling Catholic 3, Moon 2 – Aden Cooey’s second goal was the game-winner in the third period as Wheeling Catholic (5-5-1) won a Class A game. Zach Vitlip also scored and Ashton Glover made 24 saves. Noah Driscoll and Josh Koren scored for Moon (8-5).
