Isaiah DiAndreth was 2 for 3 with a double, triple and three RBIs to lead No. 2 Hempfield to a 7-3 victory over Connellsville in a Section 2-6A baseball game Wednesday afternoon.

The Spartans (13-5, 8-2) scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning to take control.

Jake Anderson allowed six hits and had three strikeouts to earn the win.

Kyle Ridley had two hits and an RBI for Connellsville (2-12, 2-8).

Hampton 13, Kiski Area 0 (5 inn.) — Phil Conti and Burke Camper had three hits and four RBIs apiece to help Class 5A No. 4 Hampton (12-2, 9-2) score a Section 1 win. Adam Poleski doubled for Kiski Area (2-9, 2-8).

Mars 5, Fox Chapel 3 — James Patterson had an RBI double and T.J. Johnston followed with a two-run double to stake Fox Chapel (7-7, 6-5) to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Mars (10-5, 8-3) scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead and earn a Section 1-5A win. Frank Craska pitched 6 23 innings and struck out nine to earn the win for Mars.

Franklin Regional 15, Woodland Hills 5 (5 inn.) — Shane Sciorilli was 3 for 3 with three RBIs, and Andrew Muraco was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs to lift Franklin Regional (11-3, 9-2) to a win in Section 3-5A. Palmer Jackson struck out four and earned the win.

Latrobe 11, Albert Gallatin 0 (5 inn.) — Jacob Bradish tossed a four-hitter with one strikeout to help Latrobe (8-7, 7-6) win a Section 3-5A game. Preston Boerio and Isaac Echard each went 3 for 3 for the Wildcats.

Freeport 15, Indiana 7 — Brodey Cowan had four hits to lead a 17-hit Freeport attack in a Section 1-4A win at Indiana (2-9, 2-9). Matt Charlton had three hits and Ben Beale doubled for the No. 2 Yellowjackets (11-1, 11-1).

Greensburg Salem 9, Derry 8 — Matt Wicker knocked in two runs, and Jack Oberdorf and Danny Neumann each had RBIs as Greensburg Salem (9-5, 8-4) won in Section 1-4A.

Tristen Grimm was 3 for 4 for Derry, which scored five times in the top of the sixth. The Golden Lions, however, answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning to seal the win.

Highlands 4, Yough 3 (10 inn.) — Josh Stuckley singled home Zac Kuniak with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Golden Rams (4-10, 4-8) a walkoff victory in Section 1-4A play. Yough (5-9, 5-8) scored two runs in the top of the seventh to send the game into extra innings. Noah Gillette doubled and Stuckley, Kuniak and Nick Cichello had two hits apiece for the Golden Rams.

Knoch 6, Deer Lakes 3 — Class 4A No. 3 Knoch (13-1, 12-1) scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away for a Section 1 win. Deer Lakes loaded the bases with nobody out in the seventh, but Lance Cotton came on to get three consecutive outs and record the save. Jake McCaskey and Greg Geis doubled for the Lancers (8-7, 5-6).

Blackhawk 7, Quaker Valley 1 — Mike Turconi was 3 for 3 with a double and RBI, and Jarrett Wright and Andrew Cope each had two hits and two RBIs as No. 1 Blackhawk (14-0, 12-0) won in Section 2-4A.

New Castle 5, Beaver 4 — Brayden Cartwright fouled off three pitches before hitting a two-run walk-off single to give the Canes (7-7, 7-5) a Section 2-4A win.

Belle Vernon 2, Uniontown 0 — Joey Sabolek threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts, and Logan Seliga was 2 for 3 with two RBIs to help Belle Vernon (9-4, 8-4) win in Section 3-4A.

Shady Side Academy 6, Steel Valley 4 — Ben Kosbie was 3 for 4 with a triple as Shady Side Academy (5-7, 4-5) knocked off no. 2 Steel Valley (8-5, 7-2) in Section 1-3A.

South Side Beaver 8, Ellwood City 2 — In Section 2-3A, Casey Jones doubled in two runs to help South Side Beaver (9-3, 8-3) to victory.

Charleroi 3, Mt. Pleasant 2 — In Section 3-3A, Keaton Riley scattered six hits to help Charleroi (11-3, 7-3) earn a win. Joe Shrum was 2 for 3 for Mt. Pleasant (7-5, 7-4).

Fort Cherry 9, Frazier 3 — Cam Schaub homered twice to lead Fort Cherry (8-3, 8-3) to a Section 1-2A win.

St. Joseph 11, Springdale 3 — Dom Fellowes had three hits, including a triple, for St. Joseph (3-9, 2-7) in a Section 1-A victory over Springdale (0-12, 0-10). Hayden Mallin doubled for the Spartans and earned the win with seven strikeouts in 3 23 innings pitched.

Serra Catholic 15, Apollo-Ridge 1 (5 inn.) — Ben Bowen went 4 for 4 with a homer and seven RBIs to pace Class 2A No. 1 Serra Catholic (17-0, 13-0) to a Section 3 win over Apollo-Ridge (4-7, 4-7). Zach Hreha took the loss for Apollo-Ridge, which was limited to one hit by the Eagles.

Vincentian Academy 15, Eden Christian Academy 0 (3 inn.) — Kyler Fedko hit two doubles and had five RBIs as No. 1 Vincentian (12-2, 9-1) won in Section 1-A. Stephen Turzai threw a no-hitter with six strikeouts.

Greensburg Central Catholic 20, West Greene 2 (4 inn.) — Antonio Cavallo was 3 for 3 with two RBIs, and Bryce Kurpiel had two doubles and an RBI as No. 4 Greensburg Central Catholic (10-4, 9-1) won in Section 2-A. Alex Miller had a double and three RBIs in the win.

Jeannette 15, Geibel 0 (3 inn.) — Tyler Elliott threw a two-hitter with five strikeouts, and Tre Cunningham tripled, homered and had five RBIs as No. 2 Jeannette (11-1, 9-1) won a Section 2-A game.

Drake Petrillo had four RBIs. In the second game of the doubleheader, Jeannette beat Geibel, 18-1, in three innings. Matt Stoves had two doubles and four RBIs, and Derrick Miller was 3 for 3 with two RBIs. Miller tossed a three-hitter with six strikeouts.

Softball

Hempfield 16, Allderdice 1 (3 inn.) — Ashley Orischak doubled twice, and Kylie Saus threw a three-hitter with three strikeouts as No. 1 Hempfield (13-1, 9-0) rolled to a Section 2-6A win.

Norwin 4, Latrobe 1 — Megan Miller and Hailee Culbertson each went 2 for 2, and Natalie Krzywiec threw a complete game as Norwin (7-4, 6-3) won in Section 2-6A.

Kiski Area 4, Penn-Trafford 0 — Megan Andree struck out seven and scattered four hits to lead Kiski Area (8-6, 7-6) to a Section 1 win over Class 5A No. 3 Penn-Trafford (13-3, 11-2).

Kasandra Cessna and Kelsey Sofaly had three hits apiece for the Cavaliers. Sofaly doubled twice. Emma Nedley doubled for Penn-Trafford.

Freeport 13, Valley 0 (5 inn.) — Maya Borghol hit a 3-run homer in the first inning, and Ashleigh Schmidt added a two-run blast in the third to help Class 3A No. 2 Freeport (11-0, 9-0) clinch the Section 1-3A title. Ashleigh Schmidt struck out eight to earn the win. Emily Schmidt and Claire Crytzer doubled for the Yellowjackets. Casey Gatto and Domenica Wolfe had a double apiece for Valley (1-7, 1-6).

Southmoreland 20, Charleroi 5 (4 inn.) — Charity Henderson was 3 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs, and Lexi Klatt was 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs as Southmoreland (7-3, 7-2) won in Section 3-3A. Faith Miller, Emily Eutsey and Abby Fullem all knocked in three runs.

Seton LaSalle 13, Brentwood 4 — Jada Simon had four RBIs, and Lexi Wagner homered and had three RBIs as Seton LaSalle (11-1, 9-0) won in Section 1-2A.

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 11, Apollo Ridge 0 (5 inn.) — Apollo-Ridge (5-4, 5-3) was limited to two hits by Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic starter Adrian Nardone in a Section 2-2A loss. Bridget Hudson doubled and tripled for the Trojanettes (9-3, 7-0).

Greensburg Central Catholic 11, Springdale 7 — Bella Skatell and Ava Bailey tripled for Greensburg Central Catholic (1-8, 1-8) in a Section 2-2A victory. Natalie Woites tripled, singled and drove in a run for Springdale (1-7, 1-6).

Riverview 16-16, Geibel 4-6 — A pair of strong offensive performances led Riverview (9-3, 7-3) to a Section 3-A sweep of Geibel (2-6, 2-5). In the first game, Alyssa Cappa went 4 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs and struck out 14 in seven innings. Alivia Acierno and Katelyn Davis doubled, and Carys Kenny-Howell tripled. In the second game, Kelsey Phillips doubled and drove in four runs, Cappa doubled twice and tripled and Acierno and Allura Jendrasik doubled.

Jeannette 11, Ellis School 0 (5 inn.) — Savannah Berry was 2 for 2 with four RBIs, and Faith Johnston threw a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts, as Jeannette (3-6, 3-6) won in Section 3-A.

St. Joseph 8, Bishop Canevin 5 — Alex Jones hit a pair of inside-the-park home runs, doubled and drove in five runs to help St. Joseph (7-2, 6-2) score a Section 3-A win over Bishop Canevin (5-4, 4-4). Courtney Fogle and Shelby Gogal had two singles apiece.
