High school roundup for Nov. 9, 2023: Hampton hockey holds off Freeport

Sean Sullivan and Daniel Leyes each collected two goals and an assist to lead Hampton to a 6-5 victory over Freeport in PIHL Class A hockey Thursday night.

Gavin Durden also scored twice for Hampton (1-5). Aiden Bauman and Zach Bowser scored two goals apiece for Freeport (1-5-1).

Beaver 1, Wheeling Catholic 0 – Carson Cuddy scored in the first two minutes of the game and Caleb Berardelli made 34 saves to make it stand up as Beaver (3-4) picked up a shutout win in Class A. Ashton Glover made 22 saves for Wheeling Catholic (3-2).

Bishop Canevin 9, Carrick 2 – Ryan Saginaw racked up four goals and two assists and Aiden Malay added two goals and an assist for Bishop Canevin (4-0) in a Varsity D2 win. Eion Tiernan and Ben Ondrejko each had a goal and an assist. Drew Bord and Christian Cole scored for Carrick (5-2.

Central Valley 8, Wilmington 4 – Gavin Crivelli had a six-point night with two goals and two assists and Aiden Pournaras had a hat trick and added two assists as Central Valley (4-2) cruised in Varsity D2. Mikey Crea had two goals and two assists for CV. Sean Carmichael and Brody Young each scored twice for Wilmington (1-3).

Fox Chapel 8, Hempfield 5 – Liam Wiseman had a hat trick and Pierce Osterholm added two goals and an assist to lead Fox Chapel (5-2) to a Class 2A victory. Tucker Cullen, Nate Sarra and Parker Haberman also scored and Killian Kissane had three assists for Fox Chapel. Nick Eberhardt had two goals and an assist and Nick Crupie added a goal and an assist for Hempfield (2-3).

Latrobe 4, Bishop McCort 2 – Dylan Morris and Cam Mikulsky each had a goal and an assist in the third period for Latrobe in a Class 2A win. Joey Crimboli also had a goal and an assist and Robert Rossi added a goal for Latrobe (6-2) Sammy Treager and Timur Naletov scored for Bishop McCort (3-2)..

Moon 2, Blackhawk 1 – Josh Koren scored the game-winning goal with 2:43 left in regulation as Moon (5-1) won in Class A. Clayton Foster also scored and Tyler Rieke made 31 saves for Moon. Matias Huber scored for Blackhawk (4-1).

Morgantown 4, Elizabeth Forward 3 – Jacob Hollander had a goal and two assists and Weston Mazey added a goal and an assist as Morgantown (3-2) won in Varsity D2. Joey Wach scored twice for Elizabeth Forward (1-3).

North Allegheny 5, Upper St. Clair 1 – Evan Kerber had a goal and two assists and Luke Walkauskas added a goal and an assist for North Allegheny (5-1) in a Class 3A win. Ryan Buonomo scored for Upper St. Clair (4-2).

Shaler 13, Montour 6 – Luca Wallander had a hat trick, Tyler Garasich added two goals and two assists, and Chase Irwin had two goals and an assist as Shaler (6-0) rolled in Class A. Hunter Fiedler had two goals and three assists for Montour (0-7).
