For the first time in AA, the WPIAL will have the opportunity to have three teams compete in the PIAA Team Tournament. The Chartiers Houston Buccaneers defeated the Jefferson Morgan Rockets Saturday 42-30 to advance to the pigtail round. Just like the move Groundhog Day, the WPIAL Team Wrestling Playoffs have that same old feeling. In the end, it's Canon-McMillan and Burrell taking home the gold on, oddly enough, February 2nd. The Big Macs captured the record fourth consecutive Class AAA championship with a narrow victory over Franklin Regional while the Buccaneers won a seventh straight Class AA crown with a close win over South Fayette. For the third year in a row, the WPIAL held their team wrestling section tournaments Wednesday to help determine section champions, postseason order and district team playoff berths.
