A bit of surprise was supposed to be in store for high school football fans with THREE games on this first night of Week Three. However Mother Nature forced the postponement of one of the WPIAL games, thus the schedule shrunk back to the normal one WPIAL and one Pittsburgh City League game. Only one conference game highlighted the schedule in Week 2 for most teams. Crossover play dominated the PSAC for weeks 2 and 3, while the PAC squared off with the MAC in cross-state battles with not good results for the local squads. After a busy first Saturday last week, the area high school football action was a bit calmer on the final day of Week Two of the 2010 season. There were only three games in both the WPIAL and the Pittsburgh City League with five of those games played in the afternoon. One of the busiest Saturday's of the WPIAL football season happened to be on the opening weekend of this 2010 campaign. Brandon Howard's two-run, eighth-inning double off Eryk McConnell was the difference tonight as the Washington Wild Things fell to the Traverse City Beach Bums 4-3 in their season finale. For the first time all series, the teams experienced good weather, having battled wind and rain in the previous two games at Wuerfel Park.
