2010 Turns Out to be Year of the Tigers in WPIAL Field Hockey

When it comes to WPIAL Girls Field Hockey Playoffs, 2010 turned out to be the Year of the Tigers. Both the North Allegheny Tigers in Class AAA and the Ellis School Tigers in Class AA captured district gold Monday night with victories at Fox Chapel High School. North Allegheny Back On Top of WPIAL AAA Girls Field Hockey World Again
North Allegheny defeated Fox Chapel 2-1 in overtime to win the AAA field hockey championship Monday night at Fox Chapel High School. The title is the 11th district crown in 14 years, but first for the Tigers since 2007. Fox Chapel came into the game with a 15-0-1 record and only gave up four goals on the year.

Ellis School Flexes Girl Power in AA Field Hockey Title Win Over GCC
The Ellis School Tigers captured their fourth WPIAL championship in the past nine years by defeating Greensburg Central Catholic 6-1 Monday night at Fox Chapel High School.   The Centurions opened up the scoring first with 23:18 left in the first half when Hope Williams scored.

Shady Side Academy Wins PIAA Girls AAA Team Tennis Title by Edging Mt. Lebo
Last week, Shady Side Academy edged Mount Lebanon to win the 2010 WPIAL Girls Team Tennis Class AAA Championship. One week later, history has repeated itself in the 2010 PIAA Girls Team Tennis Finals. The Indians once again got the better of the Blue Devils Saturday afternoon to bring state gold back to The Academy.

Scholastic Notebook – 10/29/2010
When it comes to records, maybe its time to stop thinking about Rushel Shell in a WPIAL sense. Maybe its time to look at the entire state. Shell, Hopewells wonderful junior running back, ran for 193 yards against West Allegheny in a 34-31 overtime win last night. That gave him 6,358 yards for his career.
