Two kicks...an extra point and a field goal proved to be enough Saturday to boot two more WPIAL teams from the Road to Hershey, leaving only one District 7 team still alive for a state crown. 2010-2011 turned out to be the season of the virgin winners in boys basketball. Three schools won WPIAL boys basketball championships for the first time in school history – Gateway in Class AAAA, Montour in Class AAA and Vincentian Academy in Class A. All sixteen games are in the books from Quarterfinals Weekend and all four WPIAL champions are now headed to the state Semifinals. North Allegheny beat State College for the fourth time in just over 14 months on Saturday afternoon while Montour needed a big comeback to advance as both Aliquippa and Clairton cruised to victories, including the 45th consecutive win for the Bears.
