There are 126 schools in the WPIAL that field a high school football team. While a majority still begin at 7:30pm, 38 of them now kickoff their home games at 7:00pm, including the enire Class AAA Keystone Conference. Mount Lebanon and Hampton won the very first WPIAL boys lacrosse championships two years ago in 2009. After missing out last season, the gold rush continued for both the Blue Devils and Talbots in 2011. In the end, it was worth the wait for the two top-seeds. More than a week after playing the first three rounds of the 2011 WPIAL Boys Doubles Tennis Playoffs, top-seeds Vivek Nimgaokar and Justin Hunt of Shady Side Academy won the Class AAA title while Will Kleeman and Daniel Martchek of Sewickley Academy won gold in Class AA Monday afternoon at Keystone Oaks High School.Mt. For the first time in 17 years, the Mount Lebanon boys tennis team is celebrating gold. The top-seed Blue Devils edged two-time defending champion Shady Side Academy in a match started Thursday and finished Friday due to rain. The 2011 WPIAL softball season is set to begin on Friday, March 25th. There is plenty of silver to be found in Southwestern Pennsylvania following the state basketball championships at Penn State University.
