Mount Lebanon and Jeannette entered championship weekend searching for more gold. The Blue Devils won WPIAL AAAA crowns in 2009 and 2010 while the Jayhawks captured AA gold last winter. A third seed and a fourth seed bucked the odds and captured Open Class titles. John Marshall won the Nailers Cup while Kiski Area captured a second straight Chiefs Cup in overtime. The WPIAL held its individual wrestling sectionals in Class AAA on Saturday to set the field for the district championships March 3rd through March 5th. With Samantha Pickens and her three year stranglehold on the WPIAL Girls Class AAA diving title gone to the University of Arizona, there was opportunity today at Pine-Richland High School.
