Sixteen teams saw their dreams of WPIAL football gold and a trip to the North Show come to an end as they were forced to exit the Highway to Heinz on Quarterfinals Friday. That leaves 16 teams still in the hunt for a gridiron title thanks in large part to these following outstanding performances on a comfortable early November eve. One defending WPIAL champion cruised, one needed overtime for a dramatic come-from-behind win while another was ousted in Round Two. It was a golden Saturday for both Ryan Gil, who won the 2010 Boys Class AAA Individual cross-country race while his North Allegheny teammates finished first in the boys team standings at the Parkview Course in Hershey. Hats off to the WPIAL Girls Volleyball steering committee as they got all of the top two seeds playing for the Championships in all three classifications this season. This particular conflict featured two northern suburban schools that do not have an affinity for one another on the volleyball court.NA Duo Settles for Silver in 2010 PIAA Girls Doubles Tennis Championships
A pair of WPIAL duo's made it to the Semifinals in the 2010 PIAA Girls Doubles Tennis Championships this weekend in Hershey, one in Class AAA and one in Class AA. The North Allegheny team of Lylie Isaacs and Mikayla Becich had to settle for silver after they advanced to the finals Saturday afternoon only to lose in two sets.Highway to Heinz – Round One Recaps
