Chicks Picks – Week 4 – 2015
September 24, 2015
Welcome to Week 4 of the high school football season. Last Friday night, as Chick’s Picks monitored the various MSA Sports Network social media feeds, she noticed a newcomer to the Twittersphere – one who called himself @avonworthmascot.  Could it be?  Could Chick’s Picks’ favorite WPIAL mascot of all time finally be here on Twitter?  Without hesitation, Chick’s Picks clicked the “Follow” button. Moments later, Chick’s Picks received a Twitter notification of her own, letting her know that she had a new follower: @avonworthmascot himself.  Chick’s Picks was flattered to say the least, and immediately showed her delight with a happy dance throughout MSA Sports World Headquarters, much to the dismay of The Boss.

CTK 2015 – Class AAA Big Ten Conference Preview
August 22, 2015
Before we get to whether Thomas Jefferson will win the conference again, and whether West Mifflin has another top tailback, there is one main question with this conference: What the heck is the name of the conference? For the past three seasons, this has been the Big Nine Conference. Great idea, since there were nine teams. But this conference also has had eight teams. During those years, it was the Big Eight. There were years it had seven. Thus, the name Big Seven. But Yough was added this year to make a 10-team conference. So, what now? We here at MSA Sports change with the numbers. Welcome to the Big Ten. Or should it be the Big 10 with numbers? Whatever, here is a look at the Big Ten, er, 10 Conference:

2015 MSA Sports Diamond Studs
June 19, 2015
The MSA Sports Diamond Studs all-star team is well-armed. The team is made up of the top 10 players in the WPIAL, regardless of position. More than past years, the 2015 team is extremely heavy on pitchers. Some might play other positions also, but eight of the 10 players on this year’s team made big impacts as pitchers. This year’s team has six seniors, three juniors and a sophomore. It also includes six players who have either signed or made verbal commitments to Division I colleges. Two of those six are non-seniors, including a sophomore who has already committed to a national powerhouse college program. Here is a look at the Diamond Studs and the Player of the Year. PLAYER OF THE YEAR:

Hometown Softball Recap for Elizabeth Forward Warriors – 04/28/2015
April 28, 2015
A rare battle of two teams in the MSA Sports Hometown Softball Program transpired Monday at William Penn Field.  The West Mifflin Titans were seeking a much-needed win to put some distance between themselves and the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars in the race for a playoff spot in Class AAA.  The Elizabeth-Forward Warriors already had a firm grip on 3rd place in Section 3 and were looking to win to lock up their own spot in the postseason.  In the end it was EF squeeking past visiting WM in a dandy by a score of 5-4.

Hometown Softball Recap for West Mifflin Titans – 04/07/2015
April 7, 2015
A 3-0 first inning deficit was too much for the West Mifflin Titans to overcome as the Titans fell at home to the Belle Vernon Leopards 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon. The loss puts West Mifflin two games back of a playoff spot in the Section 3-AAA race. Belle Vernon scored an unearned run on a Nicole Ashcroft infield single, after an error on pitcher Amber Cook’s throw to second. After two outs, Lacey Washowich tripled over the head of right fielder Riley Carr for the three run advantage after a half inning. West Mifflin had a chance to score with two outs in the bottom of the inning but Tiana Sekowski struck out to end the inning.

Chicks Picks – Week Seven – 2014
October 9, 2014
Welcome to Week 7 of the high school football season. Part of being a successful high school football prognosticator is always knowing what your competition is up to.  While studying season statistics of those very rivals, Chick’s Picks noticed a few thing that were rather bothersome.  She decided to schedule a meeting with The Boss to air her frustrations. “Boss, I want to start off by saying that I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me over the last 15 years.  But, this week, I noticed that my biggest rivals are spreading their wings, so to speak,” Chick’s Picks said. The Boss replied, without looking up from his classic hunt and peck typing technique, “Chick’s, what is it that you want now?”
